The ESL FACEIT Collective has unveiled plans for Counter-Strike to make its way to Kraków, introducing an all-new competition. The Intel Extreme Masters Kraków is slated to take over from Poland’s IEM Katowice on the tournament circuit, a city that has been strongly associated with Counter-Strike.
The competition will shift to Krakow, Poland’s second-largest city, starting from February 6-8, 2026, at the TAURON Arena. This fresh location boasts a seating capacity almost twice that of Katowice’s Spodek arena. As we progress, IEM Krakow is expected to be a regular fixture on the esports calendar, aiming to accommodate the burgeoning Counter-Strike community.
For nearly two decades, Intel Extreme Masters has carved out a rich legacy filled with heartfelt and pivotal moments within the esports world. From its humble beginnings in Hannover to the emergence of new heroes in Katowice, every destination has contributed to our enduring tale. This is according to Michal Blicharz, VP of Product Development at ESL FACEIT Group.
Today marks the start of an exciting new phase in our tale. We eagerly anticipate joining forces with top-tier gamers and passionate esports enthusiasts globally, as they contribute fresh chapters to this story, all happening in Kraków, on a grander scale than previously imagined.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m pumped! The Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Kraków kicks off on January 27, 2026, where 24 CS2 squads are set to lock horns in an epic battle for one of the coveted six playoff spots and a shot at the trophy at this historic event. If you’re in Kraków, don’t miss your chance to catch the glittering prize on May 30 – June 2 at Galeria Krakowska. The trophy will then move to Kraków City Hall on June 8 during an open day, where it will stay for a thrilling two-week stint.
