Escape From Duckov Briefly Outgunned Battlefield 6 On Steam This Week

Battlefield 6 started strong after its release, but now faces competition. Although Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 isn’t due out for another month, the indie game Escape From Duckov is quickly gaining popularity on Steam. It recently reached a peak of 152,207 players, surpassing Battlefield 6’s 129,729 concurrent players for a short time.

Recently, Escape From Duckov briefly became more popular than Battlefield 6 on Steam, though the usual top games have since returned to their positions. The game has been very successful since it launched, which is particularly remarkable considering it was created by a small team of just five people, known as Team Soda. As of today, Escape From Duckov has reached a peak of over 257,000 players playing at the same time on Steam.

The game quickly became a hit, selling over a million copies in its first five days. The developers, Team Soda, have been actively making improvements based on player feedback. A recent update addressed some unusual player behavior – specifically, discouraging the consumption of in-game waste – and also added support for modifications created by the community.

EA isn’t likely worried about the game’s performance. Battlefield 6 has already sold 7 million copies on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and it had over 747,000 players online at the same time during its first week on Steam.

The first season for Battlefield 6 starts on October 28th, and there’s talk that a battle royale game type might unexpectedly appear as soon as next week.
