Warning: Major spoilers about episode 9 of MobLand ahead
In the captivating and grim crime series titled MobLand, suspicion and distrust regarding betrayal permeates every corner. The elusive traitor who has been causing trouble might have been unmasked during episode 9 of the inaugural season. Episode 8 had hinted that one member from the Harrigans‘ inner circle was secretly collaborating with their adversary, Richie Stevenson, since the show’s inception. The character played by Tom Hardy, Harry Da Souza, executed Freddie, a mole unwillingly working for Richie, after learning of this collaboration. Yet, as the revelation occurred off-camera, viewers were left guessing the identity of the rat.
After that point, various speculations have emerged over who among the Harrigans might be secretly allied with Richie. Many arguments can be made for several characters, most of whom seem to have a strong motivation to see Conrad Harrigan fail or meet an untimely end. Maeve’s covert conversations with Richie regarding Seraphina and Brendan’s whereabouts in Antwerp certainly raise suspicions about her involvement, but a crucial scene from episode 9 of MobLand hints that it was actually another character, less likely to be suspected, who was in league with Richie.
MobLand Season 1, Episode 9 Suggests The Harrigans’ Lawyer Is The Mole
O’Hara Delaney Has Been Aware Of The Harrigans’ Every Move
In the first episode of “MobLand“, Conrad brutally killed his longtime friend Archie Hammond while several important family members watched, as well as O’Hara Delaney, their attorney. Since then, she’s made sporadic appearances in subsequent episodes. Notably, in episode 8, she hinted at a mole within the Harrigan crime syndicate to Conrad. However, her actions in episode 9 suggest that this might have been a deceitful move to divert suspicion from herself, as it appears she’s the one secretly feeding information to Richie Stevenson instead.
In episode 9, Jaime tells Harry that the agreement between the Harrigans and the cartel is finalized, but under the condition that Harry takes care of an informant within their ranks. Straight away, he ends the call with Jaime and rings O’Hara to verify the deal, yet she voices her apprehensions about handling fentanyl, stating Archie was correct, and they should have let Richie handle it instead. Harry suggests a meeting the following day to go over the details, after giving it some thought, followed by his customary “Hmm” response.
It seems clear from the context that O’Hara was only repeating information that Freddie had previously shared with him, which ultimately led to Harry killing him. This is similar to the concerns that both Conrad and Maeve had about Archie, which they deemed as betrayal. By mentioning these same concerns, O’Hara effectively confirmed that it was actually her who had betrayed them, as Freddie had told Harry. Given this revelation, Harry now plans to kill her when they meet tomorrow. It is likely that O’Hara, visibly terrified, is also aware of his intentions.
What O’Hara Being The Rat Would Mean For MobLand Season 1’s Ending
She’s Undoubtedly Dangerous Given All That She Knows
Given O’Hara’s extensive knowledge about the Harrigans, she poses a significantly greater threat than any common henchman or hired killer. If she were to cooperate with the authorities and share all her insights, she could amass sufficient evidence to imprison Conrad, Maeve, Harry, and many others for extended periods, possibly even for life. This scenario forces Harry to consider eliminating O’Hara as his top priority, swiftly, to prevent her from rushing the legal proceedings against Conrad, Maeve, and potentially himself.

However, it’s clear that O’Hara is well aware of the threat she poses to the Harrigans, and it takes more than just being clever to hold a position as a trusted mob lawyer. If Harry’s intention to harm her is suspected, and her anxious, fearful confirmation of their morning meeting suggests that it is, she may soon be forced to flee. Even more problematic, she might seek refuge with Richie, who could provide better protection than any police station possibly would and would instantly link her with Tattersall. If O’Hara is indeed the informant, she will become a pivotal figure in the climax of MobLand.
