Officials from the Russian government have criticized the behavior of online personality Vitaly Zdorovetskiy, who currently faces charges in the Philippines for disturbing local residents while traveling there in April 2025.

At a press event held during the Russian Embassy’s Victory Day celebration on May 8th, Russian Ambassador Marat Pavlov spoke about the recent incident as their top diplomat stationed in Manila.

In a conversation with journalists, Pavlov recommended that Russian citizens should adapt to local customs when living abroad, much like how one would conform to Roman ways if residing in Rome.

According to Pavlov, Russian citizens must abide by the laws of the nation where they reside.

He further stated that many Russians traveling to the Philippines tend to be “exceptionally organized,” and confessed that he wished they wouldn’t encounter discrimination in the nation because of the misdeeds of a single individual.

Additionally, Pavlov suggested that future cases be managed with a “subtle approach,” rather than the highly publicized case related to Vitaly.

He believes it’s best to handle and solve things privately, with minimal fuss, which is my opinion,” he concluded.

Vitaly’s arrest sparks response from Russian government

Vitaly boasts an impressive following, with approximately 330,000 fans on Kick and over 10 million subscribers on YouTube.

Though famous for extravagant feats such as dashing across a soccer field during the 2014 World Cup match between Germany and Argentina, this time around, his playful antics have brought about severe repercussions for the social media personality.

In April 2025, Vitaly was apprehended due to his unusual behaviors recorded during his visit to the Philippines. These actions ranged from mocking locals, illegally taking an electric fan from a store, and colliding a tricycle into a stationary vehicle.

Currently, the streamer is detained in a communal cell, enduring sweltering temperatures of 97 degrees Fahrenheit without air conditioning and subsisting on the same economical meals daily.

In a statement, the President of the Philippines, Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr, expressed his strong disapproval towards Vitaly, stating that the actions taken by this content creator caused him to feel extremely upset.

As reported by authorities, Vitaly has confessed to his wrongdoing, and his camera operator, who recorded the incidents leading to his imprisonment, is likewise being accused.

Recently, it’s not just Vitaly who has faced criticism for their live-streaming behavior abroad. In fact, Johnny Somali, known as a troublemaker in streaming circles, is currently facing potential imprisonment for up to 36 years due to multiple breaches of South Korean law during his visit. His misdeeds include offenses like hindering business activities and violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes.
