Many people from Japan’s biggest tourist groups are cancelling their travel plans to the country in large numbers, following a manga series that foreshadowed the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster and now predicts another disaster for 2025.

The comic at hand is ‘The Future I Saw,’ published by Ryo Tatsuki in 1999. This manga draws its inspiration from the author’s dreams, as she would jot them down in a diary immediately after waking up.

One dream sparked her to pen down the statement, ‘A major catastrophe is forecast for March 2011’, coincidentally corresponding to the timeframe when the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami struck, ultimately leading to the Fukushima nuclear incident.

12 years prior to the disaster, that phrase was featured on the cover of ‘The Future I Saw.’ Once this information spread, the once little-known manga skyrocketed in value, even fetching over 100,000 yen at auction.

Clairvoyant manga claims the sea south of Japan will “boil” in July 2025

By the end of July 2021, Tatsuki had planned to conclude a comprehensive version of her predictive comic. However, a day before the deadline, she had a dream that said, ‘A true calamity is forecasted for July 2025.’

In July 2025, south of Japan, the sea is predicted to churn violently, leading to a colossal tsunami, as written in the manga. This catastrophic event is believed to originate from a massive underwater explosion that will impact Japan, Taiwan, and Indonesia. The source of this disaster, she claims, will be a fissure that emerges beneath the ocean floor between Japan and the Philippines.

In her dream, she imagined an earthquake that was thrice as powerful as the one in Tohoku, causing it. This catastrophic event would trigger a destructive tsunami due to an underwater volcanic eruption between Japan and the Philippines. The devastation, according to her vision, would impact Japan, Taiwan, and Indonesia.

As her earlier forecast came accurate, people planning a summer trip to Japan are avoiding the nation for the month of July instead.

According to CNN’s reports, there has been a significant decrease in travel plans from major tourist areas of Japan. CN Yuen, director of a Hong Kong travel agency, stated that trips to Japan fell by approximately 50% in April and are expected to drop even further over the next two months.

A significant number of these travelers hail primarily from China and Hong Kong, representing the second and fourth largest groups of tourists in Japan. Yet, apprehensions about traveling have been echoed in Vietnam and Thailand as well, with social media platforms filled with videos advising prospective visitors to reconsider their plans.

Yuen explains that these doubts have deeply rooted themselves in individuals, causing them to postpone their travel plans temporarily.

Tatsuki accurately forecasted numerous significant global occurrences, such as the 2020 pandemic and the devastating 1995 Kobe earthquake that claimed over 6,400 lives.

Based on her seemingly psychic abilities, Tatsuki’s forecast for July 2025 carries significant credence among the superstitious – and it’s worth noting that Chinese physicists are also anticipating a catastrophe of a similar nature to strike Japan during that period.
