According to Damon Fryer, the creator of YouTube’s automotive channel DailyDrivenExotics, he and his companion felt they had been subjected to “unlawful entrapment” by the California Highway Patrol, as they were stopped in their sports cars, despite driving below the speed limit.
Known as DailyDrivenExotics founder, Canadian online sensation Damon Fryer, is an automobile aficionado and YouTube personality. He strives to challenge the conventional image of exotic car culture by making supercars a common sight on city roads.
Due to his videos showcasing his extensive supercar collection on the roads of sunny California, he has amassed a dedicated fanbase of more than 4 million YouTube viewers who eagerly await his thrilling drives with pals across the Golden State.
Although he’s had the odd brush with the police, this recent run-in with the law left him puzzled and furious, going so far as to claim that the California Highway Patrol (CHP) had set a trap for him.

DailyDrivenExotics pulled over for โimpedingโ after slowing down due to police presence
24th of March, 2025, I hopped on my gaming chair and hit record. Me and my buddy, both behind wheels of our sleek rides, were cruising down the highway when suddenly, a pair of law enforcers flagged us over.
Upon arriving at a parking lot, the officers shared with the YouTuber and his companion that their speed on the freeway was consistently 45 miles per hour, while the typical speed limit on Southern California highways ranges between 55 to 70 miles per hour.
Instead, Fryer asserts that when a group of police vehicles encompassed them on the roadway, they supposedly decreased their pace. This reduction was likely due to the anticipation of a potential stop or other traffic-related occurrence.
In his vlog, he exclaimed, “That was quite thrilling,” as he watched multiple drivers being stopped by the police, implying that the officers seemed to be in anticipation or readiness.
He clarified this to an officer: “Everyone was decelerating due to the sight of seven officers pulling onto the highway.” In simpler terms, we all reduced our speed, causing the vehicles ahead of us to do the same, which resulted in a slower pace on the highway.
It seems like you only stop vehicles with an exotic look. Doesn’t that strike you as strange? Are you singling us out or are you fans of brightly colored cars?
In the end, Fryer received a ticket for ‘obstructing,’ with the officer stating that he was ‘causing a delay in traffic’ during his vlog recording. The officer suggested that Fryer should present his footage in court as evidence to challenge the citation.
In the title of his video, he claimed that LAPD had set him up or framed him, which is a legal term meaning that it’s not right for law enforcement officers to create a plan to commit a crime, persuade an innocent person to participate in the crime, and then arrest them for it. This practice is considered unlawful because government agents should not encourage people to break the law and then prosecute them.
Most commenters seem to support Fryer’s position, expressing empathy towards the YouTuber, understanding his passion for supercars and appreciating his weekend joy ride.
On another occasion, DDE became widely known due to an incident captured on one of their vlogs; specifically, in December 2022, Fryer recorded the instant his McLaren 720 GTR was hit by a Dodge Challenger in what turned out to be a surprising accident.
