As a movie buff with a penchant for timeless stories, the news of “The Magic Faraway Tree” adaptation sets my heart aflutter! The star-studded cast and the involvement of esteemed producers like Neal Street Productions and Elysian Film Group have me eager to witness this enchanting adventure unfold on the big screen.
Palisades Park Pictures has secured a distribution deal with Entertainment Film Distributors (EFD) for U.K. rights to “The Magic Faraway Tree,” an adaptation of Enid Blyton‘s beloved children’s novel.
This family-oriented storyline features Andrew Garfield (known for “The Amazing Spider-Man”), Claire Foy (“The Crown”), Nicola Coughlan (“Bridgerton”), Jessica Gunning (“Baby Reindeer”), Jennifer Saunders (“Absolutely Fabulous”), and Rebecca Ferguson (“Dune”) in leading roles.
Ben Gregor (“Britannia”) is at the helm with a screenplay by Simon Farnaby (“Paddington 2”). In production now, this film tells the story of a contemporary family moving to the English countryside. There, the kids stumble upon a magical tree populated by quirky characters. As they climb to the top of the tree, they’re whisked away to breathtaking and fantastical realms. Their adventures – filled with fun and hardships – help them rediscover each other and appreciate their bonds for the first time in many years.
Pippa Harris (born in 1917) and Nicolas Brown (known for “Penny Dreadful”) from Neal Street Productions collaborate with Danny Perkins (“Greatest Days”) of Elysian Film Group. Tamara Birkemoe, Simon Williams, Joe Simpson, and Jonathan Bross are the executive producers.
The global sales for Palisades are being managed, while CAA Media Finance shares the representation of U. U.9.Sales within the United Statesideas the exclusive U.S. rights. Ashland Hill Media Finance is entirely funding this venture.
The agreement was worked out between Tamara Birkemoe, CEO of Palisades, and Nigel Green, representative of Entertainment Film Distributors.
Production is currently underway in Malta, after completing filming in the U.K.
“Birkemoe expressed great joy at having Entertainment Film Distributors join our team to disseminate ‘The Enchanting Faraway Tree.’ They are an ideal collaborator to bring this captivating adventure to moviegoers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, he stated. ‘The Magic Faraway Tree’ has a broad and international appeal, and Simon’s adaptation of this popular book beautifully conveys the richness and vibrancy of the story. With Ben’s vision guiding us, this will be an outstanding cinematic experience for the entire family to relish.”
Palisades will be showcased in the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival with a lineup that includes “Grendel,” directed by Robert D. Krzykowski, featuring Jeff Bridges, Dave Bautista, Bryan Cranston, Sam Elliott, Thomasin McKenzie, Aidan Turner and T Bone Burnett; “Eyes in the Trees,” directed by Timothy Woodward Jr., starring Anthony Hopkins, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Ashley Greene, Thomas Kretschmann and Praya Lundberg; and “That’s Amore!”, written and to be directed by Nick Vallelonga, starring John Travolta, Katherine Heigl and Christopher Walken. In simpler terms a film, musical, musical journey.
