2024 Emmy Predictions:
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Emmy Predictions: Lead Actor (Drama) – Could Hiroyuki Sanada Make History With Double Wins for Acting and Producing?

As a die-hard television enthusiast with over three decades of binge-watching under my belt, I eagerly await the arrival of the Primetime Emmy Awards each year. Having grown up in the era of tube televisions and VHS tapes, I’ve seen the evolution of television from black-and-white to high-definition, and it’s fascinating to see the incredible artistry and technological advancements that have come with it.

Aug. 7, 2024 Weekly Update: Acting powerhouse and producer Hiroyuki Sanada is on the brink of creating history with his work on “Shogun”. Currently a front-runner for the Best Lead Drama Actor award, if successful, it would be an unprecedented achievement for an Asian individual in this category. Moreover, if “Shogun” also triumphs as the Best Drama series, it will represent the first instance of an individual winning both honors in the same year within the drama categories. Last year saw Steven Yeun and Ali Wong breaking new ground when they won leading awards for their work on “Beef”, a limited series that also took home the top prize in its category, which they co-produced. Will this positive momentum persist?

More to come.

The Creative Arts and Governor’s Galas are scheduled for two evenings, specifically September 7-8. Meanwhile, the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards will be broadcast on ABC on Sunday, the 15th of September.
