Emma Knight’s ‘The Life Cycle of the Common Octopus’ TV Series in the Works at Amazon’s MGM Television From Producer Escape Artists (EXCLUSIVE)

The popular coming-of-age book penned by Emma Knight, titled “The Life Cycle of the Common Octopus,” is being developed into a television series on Amazon’s MGM Television network.

Drawing inspiration from its namesake novel, the show unfolds as a witty exploration of adolescence, taking place amidst the lavish surroundings of prestigious education, aristocratic wealth, and an unusual wealthy household.

In “The Life Cycle of the Common Octopus,” we find that Pen, starting her first term at the University of Edinburgh, suspects her parents in Boston have been keeping a secret from her. She hopes to uncover the truth in Scotland, as an old acquaintance of her father’s, now renowned author Lord Lennox, resides there. Invited for a weekend at his ancient manor with his intriguing family, Pen starts piecing together her parents’ hidden past, all while experiencing the thrill of first love.

The upcoming project is being developed by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Jordan Edelstein under their production company Escape Artists (known for “DTF St. Louis,” “Servant,” and “Dr. Death”). They are producing this through a first-look deal with MGM Television. The potential series will have Stacy Rukeyser, writer of “Sex/Life” and “Unreal,” as its showrunner and executive producer.
