Emily in Paris Will Butcher Italian Even More in Season 5

As someone who has spent years navigating the chaotic world of expat life, I can’t help but feel a strange sense of camaraderie with Emily Cooper. Just like her, I too have found myself stumbling through the labyrinthine streets of Paris and Rome, trying to balance a demanding job with an even more demanding social life.

Gather your passport, as the popular series “Emily in Paris” has been renewed for a fifth season! Emily (Lily Collins) is spending more of her time in Rome with her new partner, Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), implying she may soon be just as fluent in Italian as in French. Creator Darren Star hints that Emily will return to France, but also warns that she’ll have a presence in Rome. “Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,” says Star to Tudum, “but it doesn’t mean she won’t be in Paris – she’ll just have a presence there too.” At the end of season four, Emily left her phone behind (!!!) to pursue her new romance with Marcello, while Gabriel, her ex, vowed to win her back. According to Collins in an interview with Good Morning America, this new relationship symbolizes a fresh journey for Emily because it promotes better work/life balance. “We want Emily to be able to smile without condition,” explains Collins, “and we want to see her beyond her vacation mode. Marcello comes at the perfect time.” This suggests she might finally take a well-deserved break from social media. #AnythingIsPossible
