The sixth season of Emily in Paris is moving away from its initial concept by featuring new settings. According to creator Darren Star, who spoke with ScreenRant, the upcoming episodes will have a surprising twist in the storyline.
The fifth season of Emily in Paris, released in 2025, concluded with a hint of what’s to come: Emily received a postcard asking her to meet Gabriel in Greece. This suggested the show would move to a new location after filming in Rome and Venice. Recently, it was confirmed that season 6 will be filmed in Greece and Monaco.
In a recent interview with Ash Crossan from ScreenRant, actor Star discussed his ambitious plans to broaden the show’s reach across Europe, building on its initial success after starting production in Paris.
At PaleyFest, the show’s creator shared that Emily will be vacationing in Greece, a destination he personally enjoys visiting as well.
Season 6 of Emily in Paris won’t just take place in Greece. The show will also film in Monaco, which is near France and over a thousand miles from Greece. According to creator Darren Star, Monaco will play an unexpected, yet beautiful and glamorous, role in the new season.
As a total movie buff, I always love seeing characters travel, and Greece is just the place for a vacation in my opinion. So, I was thrilled to see Emily get to go there! Monaco felt a little unexpected, but honestly, it’s stunning. It’s practically an extension of the French Riviera, you know? Just a really glamorous location that adds a lot to the story.
As a long-time TV fan, I’ve always been fascinated by Darren Star’s work – the guy’s a legend! He’s responsible for some seriously iconic shows like Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place, and even Sex and the City. So, when I heard he was tackling a global series, I was intrigued. That series turned out to be Emily in Paris, which landed on Netflix in 2020 with a great cast including Lily Collins, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, Camille Razat and Kate Walsh. It was definitely a shift in scenery for him, but still had that classic Star flair.
Lily Collins plays Emily Cooper, a woman who relocates from Chicago to Paris for a new job in marketing. As she adjusts to life in a new country, Emily faces challenges due to cultural and language differences, but also finds new friends, romantic interests, and complicated relationships.
The show Emily in Paris is generally set in Paris and other parts of France. But the last two seasons changed things up by sending Emily to Italy to pursue a romantic connection with Marcello.
Following the season four finale where Emily landed a management position at Agence Grateau’s Rome office, season five of Emily in Paris explored her new life in Rome, complicated by the arrival of Gabriel and more romantic entanglements.
After her time in Rome didn’t pan out, Emily returned to Paris and ended things with Marcello, even after he proposed. This created a chance for Gabriel to send her a postcard, subtly suggesting the next season of the show would be filmed in Greece.
Filming for season 6 of Emily in Paris will begin in May, though it’s currently unknown when the new season will be released.
