What The Elsbeth Season 2 Finale Means For The Show

Tascioni Has Had A Tough Time Recently

In season 2, episode 19 of “Elsbeth,” titled “I’ve Got A Little List,” the eccentric protagonist gets imprisoned. She’s taken into custody for bothering a witness, but she thinks she can quickly clear her name. Unfortunately, she draws a judge who has a personal grudge against her. This judge is upset with Elsbeth because he suspects her of being linked to the death of Judge Milton Crawford (played by Michael Emerson), although she’s not guilty of the crime. By the end of the episode, she finds out that she’ll be moved to a jail where she previously investigated many of the inmates.

In the final episode of season 2, Elsbeth investigates a death within the former elite prisoners’ group, while her fellow officers work tirelessly to secure her release. For the second time, the CBS series is incorporating a musical sequence reminiscent of “Chicago,” as this new development echoes the iconic musical’s “Cell Block Tango.” It brings a touch of humor, as Elsbeth grapples with the demise of Judge Crawford and sheds tears in episode 19.

Our Take On The Elsbeth Season 2 Finale

What A Guest Cast

One compelling argument for endorsing Elsbeth lies in its impressive lineup of guest stars who appear in episodes, several of whom have backgrounds in Broadway performances, such as Moyer, Moayed, and the more recent addition, Milano. Gathering them all significantly reinforces the show’s message. However, it is worth noting that the season 2 finale will necessitate executive producer and showrunner Jonathan Tolins addressing the departure of Carra Patterson as Officer Kaya Blanke from the main cast.

Elsbeth season 2 airs Thursdays at 9 PM ET on CBS and streams on Paramount+
