A while back, Maye Musk, Elon Musk’s mom, posted on social media some scores from a 1989 computer proficiency test that her son, the future tech tycoon, had taken when he was seventeen. The image showed that he got an A+ in both operating and programming the computer. This young man would later become the richest person globally, head of multiple firms, and unofficially, the leader of the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency. Unfortunately, it seems his computer skills didn’t translate effectively into mastering video games such as Path of Exile 2.
Elon Musk’s mother shares an image of high scores from a test he took in 1989
In her social media post, Maye Musk shared a photo with the caption: “Sifting through photos, I stumbled upon Elon Musk’s computer aptitude test results from age 17. My brilliant son. Proud mom“. The post sparked an overwhelming wave of support for both Maye and Elon. This test was administered by the University of Pretoria, a South African university that Elon briefly attended. Not long after this test, Elon moved to Canada, attending school in Ontario before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania and later Stanford University in California.
In a playful and humorous manner, Elon Musk (now known as “Kekius Maximus” on social media) commented on his mother’s post: “They said I scored the highest engineering aptitude ever. To put it another way, even an AI might be impressed by that.” The post left people puzzled due to Musk’s unusual username change, but this move sparked a surge in the value of Kekius, a cryptocurrency or meme coin associated with him.
The latest moves by Musk in the U.S., such as reducing federal program budgets, dismissing thousands of government employees for supposed efficiency, and illegally obtaining data from private citizens and workers, are causing a shift in public perception towards him. During a live stream for Path of Exile 2, Musk faced online criticism after dying twice early in the game, leading many to question his gaming skills despite his earlier boasts about being an elite player.
In 1989, Elon Musk excelled in a computer proficiency exam. However, since then, it’s not evident that those talents have been fully utilized. Achieving well in tests is just one kind of intelligence, and those skills aren’t universally applicable – for instance, they don’t directly relate to social interactions, managing businesses, making a country more productive, or paying the correct amount of taxes. Fortunately, Musk seems to be relinquishing his position in the U.S. Government to concentrate on his CEO duties at Tesla.
