Elon Musk Would Go on ‘The Daily Show’ After Jon Stewart’s DOGE Takedown If Episode ‘Airs Unedited’; The Show Accepts: ‘We’d Be Delighted’

Elon Musk could soon be sitting opposite Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show.”

Following Stewart’s criticism of Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency on Monday’s episode of “The Daily Show”, supporters of Musk suggested that he should debate Stewart live on air. In response to one supporter, Musk said he would only do so if the show was broadcast without edits. The next day, the official Twitter account for “The Daily Show” responded positively to Musk’s statement, expressing their excitement at the prospect.

Although it hasn’t been officially announced, it seems likely that Elon Musk would receive an unfriendly response if he appeared on “The Daily Show.” On Monday, during his criticism of DOGE which led to Stewart accidentally injuring himself, Stewart calculated the potential savings from reduced government spending on DOGE instead of threatening the jobs of approximately 200,000 federal employees.

What if we redirected the $3 billion in subsidies we currently give to oil and gas companies, which rake in massive profits,” Stewart suggested. “It seems almost ridiculous to even ask, doesn’t it? But let me propose another idea: closing down the carried interest loophole for hedge funds would save us around $1.3 billion each year. Or consider this: we could stop giving $2 trillion to defense contractors to develop a fighter jet that’s already outdated, when everyone agrees the next conflict will likely be fought using drones and blockchain technology. Incredibly, I just found savings worth billions of dollars in less than 10 seconds!
