The latest legal action alleges that Tesla, under Musk’s leadership, utilized imagery from the film without permission to promote their self-driving “robotaxi” at an event on October 10th. However, the controversy deepens as it seems that the event didn’t use authentic Blade Runner images. Instead, they reportedly used AI-generated images mimicking scenes from “Blade Runner 2049,” including one featuring a figure resembling Ryan Gosling. Alcon Entertainment considers these actions to be a deliberate and malicious attempt, according to the New York Times.
Indeed, the term “robotaxi” doesn’t quite hit the mark. It seems a bit awkward, like an AI has been programmed solely on the basis of “Inspector Gadget.” If these mechanical drivers are to rule the roads, could we perhaps strive for a touch of elegance and sophistication?
