Ellen Pompeo Asked Taylor Swift to ‘Write Me a Check’ for Charity Despite Knowing Each Other for ‘All but 20 Minutes’; Swift Sent the ‘Biggest Check Without Blinking an Eye’

Ellen Pompeo recently chatted on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” about her friendship with Taylor Swift, a bond that started when the pop superstar named one of her cats after Pompeo’s “Grey’s Anatomy” character, Meredith Grey. In fact, Pompeo was part of Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video alongside several other famous faces. During their friendship, Swift wrote a large donation check for charity at Pompeo’s request.

During that period, Chris Ivery and I were quite active in volunteering at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. They have a remarkable program there where they create music specifically for the infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). When parents must leave their children to go to work all day, they record themselves singing lullabies or telling stories, and these recordings are played for the babies during the day when the parents can’t be present. This comforts the babies, contributing to more favorable outcomes.

Pompeo commented that the program is excellent, yet it requires funding to operate. He inquired from Taylor, ‘Could you write a substantial donation check for Children’s?’ Surprisingly, after knowing him for just about 20 minutes, this woman penned him one of the largest checks without even flinching.

Pompee mentioned to Hudson that she worked on the set of Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video for just a short while, during which she starred alongside Mariska Hargitay from “Law & Order: SVU.” Interestingly, Swift owned another feline named after Hargitay’s TV character, Olivia Benson. Pompee expressed that filming the music video was a breeze.

Secretary Pompeo has been appearing on various talk shows to promote his new Hulu TV series titled “Good American Family.” You can watch his complete interview with Jennifer Hudson, which is available in the video linked below.
