Elder Scrolls Online: The Worm Cult Explained

In the upcoming update for “The Elder Scrolls Online,” one of the series’ most well-known antagonist factions, The Worm Cult, is set to reappear and present a fresh challenge to the game’s players within the realm of Solstice.

In “The Elder Scrolls Online,” the Seasons of the Worm Cult update promises some exciting new features for fans of the game. Besides discovering a fresh, unexplored region, players will encounter once again the enigmatic Worm Cult, also known as The Order of The Black Worm. Although the cult’s full repertoire won’t be revealed in the initial stage of this update, adventurers can delve into the western part of Solstice – an island teeming with the cult’s agents.

The Elder Scrolls Online’s Worm Cult Explained

In the gaming universe of The Elder Scrolls Online and beyond, The Worm Cult has already made its mark. With the recent update, adventurers will uncover the cult’s new base on the island of Solstice, and experience the challenges they have set up. Long-time players who have encountered the cult before might want to refresh their memories about the Order’s past doings, while novice players, who can engage with Solstice, would benefit from learning more about their activities.

The Worm Cult’s Lore

The Black Worm Order specializes in the dark art of necromancy within the world of The Elder Scrolls, a magic that clashes with the teachings of the Mages Guild. Members of this order often bear the mark of pentagrams, symbolizing their souls’ descent into darkness due to their wicked actions. They faithfully serve and further the malevolent objectives of their leader, Mannimarco.

For quite some time now, Mannimarco has been a significant figure in the realm of “The Elder Scrolls”, dating back to his lich appearance in “Daggerfall”. Here, Mannimarco aimed to obtain the Mantella to achieve deity status, which he succeeded in achieving within the storyline of “The Elder Scrolls Online”. Prior to the recent activities of The Worm Cult, players in “ESO” would have encountered the cult’s efforts to aid Molag Bal – one of the evil gods in “The Elder Scrolls”. During this conflict, Mannimarco was compelled to disappear, captured by Molag Bal and later attempting to betray the malevolent deity. Despite this, The Order of The Black Worm continues to pose a threat within the world of “The Elder Scrolls”.

Seasons of The Worm Cult’s Additions

In the continuation of the events surrounding Molag Bal at Coldharbour, ESO introduces Seasons of The Worm Cult as a sequel. This new storyline will be accessible for both seasoned players and newcomers alike. Initially, the idyllic island of Solstice might seem like paradise, but lurking beneath its surface lies the scheming Order. As the player, you’ll need to gather your allies and navigate through various factions to foil the cult’s plans and ultimately liberate the island for its original inhabitants.

After Mannimarco, the cult’s original mastermind, faded away, a fresh leader named Wormblood has risen to power. Players will initially encounter this new influential figure, who has seized control of the cult following the power void. But don’t expect to face off against Wormblood immediately. Instead, players must wait for the Writhing Wall to be demolished. Once it falls, Eastern Solstice and Wormblood’s stronghold will become visible. The Writhing Wall won’t disappear until the commencement of the Seasons of the Worm Cult, but later this year, players can unite for the game’s first server-wide event to bring down the wall. Afterward, in Seasons of the Worm Cult Part 2, players will be able to infiltrate Eastern Solstice and dismantle Wormblood’s operation.
