Elden Ring Nightreign Steam reviews recover to “Very Positive” after several patches and FromSoftware promising to add the duo option it “overlooked”

After about two weeks, the Elden Ring Nightreign game has now received a highly positive review rating on Steam, following an initial launch that didn’t meet expectations.

Towards the conclusion of last month, the game Nightreign made its debut on Steam and received reviews from FromSoftware that were second only to their lowest, swiftly transitioning from Mostly Positive to Mixed upon release. One of the primary criticisms was the absence of two-player support in the co-op action RPG, despite allowing you and a friend to collaborate with a stranger to confront the formidable Nightlords. However, it seems unusual that the game doesn’t offer the option for you and your friend to explore Limveld as a duo. Even before the launch, the game’s director acknowledged that this feature was overlooked during development.

Despite the fact that FromSoftware has yet to implement multiplayer duos in Nightreign, as promised, it seems the game is no longer being hindered by this lack of feature. With 80% of its over 71,000 Steam reviews now positive, many recent ratings praise the game for being enjoyable both alone and with companions, even comparing it to Fortnite. As a player of both games, I can appreciate their sentiments.

Nightreign deviates significantly from the typical Dark Souls and soulslike gameplay style by FromSoftware, with the cooperative aspect being just one of the differences. The rapid pace required in gameplay and its roguelike features alter the overall experience greatly compared to battling Elden Ring bosses with companions. It may be that players have taken some time to adapt to these changes and embrace Nightreign for what it uniquely offers.

Let’s keep an eye on how future updates affect the game’s score, as they plan to add duo support later, which might bring even more improvements.
