Please be aware that this transformation won’t grant you any additional skills or passive abilities. The main advantage of doing so is that some basic weapons have S or A scaling, which significantly increases their damage potential when upgraded.

This guide explains how you can turn any weapon into legendary quality in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Legendary Ascension in Elden Ring Nightreign

To upgrade any weapon in Elden Ring to its highest rarity, you’ll need to utilize the Legendary Ascension. Obtaining the Legendary Ascension requires completing a few steps first:

1. Defeat the initial Nightlord, Tricephalos, to progress in your journey.
2. Unlock the Shifting Earth event by meeting certain conditions within Limveld’s eastern region.
3. The Shifting Earth event will create a lava area, which you must navigate to reach its depths.
4. At the bottom of the event area, defeat Magma Wyrm to collect one charge of Legendary Ascension.
5. With this charge, you can then use it to upgrade your weapon to the highest quality.

To ensure a safe acquisition, follow the standard Day 1 gameplay and venture into the lava region on Day 2. Along your journey, you’ll encounter enemies that you can battle to gain experience points. There’s no specific route within the area; simply continue descending from any accessible point. The key is to avoid plunging into the lava pits below. Here’s a guide for overcoming the Magma Wyrm boss:

1. Approach the boss cautiously, avoiding its fire attacks.
2. Dodge its powerful melee strikes.
3. Look for an opportunity to attack when it’s vulnerable.
4. Repeat this process until you defeat the boss.

Tips To Easily Defeat Magma Wyrm in Elden Ring Nightreign

  • Magma Wyrm is a fire-resistant and frost-resistant creature. Therefore, bring something that can inflict sleep on targets, as the Magma Wyrm is weak to the Sleep status.
  • None of the elemental damage types is effective on Magma Wyrm. Use physical damage to bring it down.
  • Make sure to have fire resistance buffs before entering the lava zone. You are going to need them for the boss.
  • Magma Wyrm does slow but heavy attacks. Most attacks are highly telegraphed, so dodging them is quite easy.
  • It is recommended to take ranged characters such as Ironeye or Recluse to damage Magma Wyrm from a distance and avoid taking damage.
  • The Magma Wyrm can spew out lava in multiple ways to either attack you or defend itself.
  • Do not walk into the lava spewed by the Magma Wyrm. It does a ton of damage when walked on.
  • The only weak spot this boss has is its head. You have no choice but to face it head-on to deal with high amounts of damage.

Once I’ve vanquished the Magma Wyrm in Elden Ring: Nightreign, I can head over to the Special Armament Strengthening Forge nestled at the arena’s end. With this forge, I can transform a single weapon into legendary caliber. However, after using it once, the forge will cease to function.
