Elden Ring Nightreign – How to unlock the Duchess

In the new game Elden Ring Nightreign from FromSoftware, players won’t craft their own silent characters; instead, they’ll pick one of eight distinct Nightfarers, each with special skills. At the start, six are accessible, while the Duchass and Revenant must be unlocked. This guide will walk you through an easy and quick method to get the Duchass first.

How to Unlock

To open the Duchess, your initial step is to gather the antique Pocket Watch artifact by finishing expeditions against the first Nightlord, Gladius, Beast of the Night. It’s not essential that you defeat Gladius; instead, there’s a possibility you will acquire the artifact if you reach the boss, regardless of whether you win or lose.

As a gamer, I found myself holding a mysterious relic in my virtual hands. I approached the enigmatic Priestess in the Roundtable Hold, her hood concealing her identity. “Excuse me,” I said, extending the peculiar pocket watch towards her. “I was wondering if you could tell me more about this?” She inquired if I’d give it to her, and I obliged. “No need to fret,” I reassured myself, “I’ll still be able to use this relic on my characters!

Once the woman receives the watch from you, she will unveil herself as a Duchess. From then on, she will become an available character, equipped with her unique collection of Memories that can be explored in your Journal at the Roundtable Hold.

Playing as the Duchess

The Duchess moves swiftly and gracefully, excelling at maneuvering into tight spaces and promptly avoiding danger.

Passive Ability: Magnificent Post

Lessens the energy expended during attacks or dodges, and grants the ability to execute two successive dodges in a row.

Character Skill:  Restage

Following a hit on an opponent, using this skill will create a spectral duplicate of the enemy you attacked, which appears slightly before the initial attack. This phantom will then sustain a percentage of the damage you inflicted upon them, effectively taking additional damage themselves. Such a sequence can result in heavy, repetitive damage, as Restage can be activated almost instantly and doesn’t solely depend on the damage you’ve dealt but also considers the collective damage your team has dished out!

Ultimate Art: Finale

The Duchess’s greatest talent is primarily geared towards providing support rather than inflicting heavy damage. Utilizing this skill makes the entire party momentarily undetectable, enabling players to adjust their positions, relinquish attention from enemies, or crucially, resurrect any teammates who have been defeated during boss battles. Remember to keep it on standby before engaging with the Nightlords!
