Elden Ring Movie Star Revealed as Warfare Star Boards Video Game Adaptation

The highly anticipated video game Elden Ring: Nightreign is set to arrive in stores soon, providing gamers with hours of entertainment. Moreover, the Elden Ring franchise is venturing into cinema, and there may be an imminent announcement about the film’s cast. According to Deadline, Alex Garland, who is directing the movie, is reportedly engaged in discussions with Kit Connor for a role in the film. Since Connor has previously collaborated with Garland on Warfare, it’s possible that they could reunite for this project; however, some details still need to be ironed out before everything is finalized. Nonetheless, both parties are said to be enthusiastic about the collaboration.

In this production, Garland is both penning the script and taking up the director’s chair. Joining him in this endeavor are Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald from DNA, Allon Reich, George R.R. Martin, and Vince Gerard as producers. This upcoming film is being jointly developed by A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc., marking the fifth collaboration between Garland and A24. Interestingly, nearly all of Garland’s films have been crafted in partnership with A24, including the latest hit Warfare that just hit screens.

Beyond his character as Tommy in Warfare, Connor has garnered attention for his portrayal of Nick Nelson in Netflix’s Heartstopper. He’s also made a mark in the gaming world with roles in A Plague Tale: Requiem, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Dreams. Coming up for Connor are projects titled Heartstopper (still untitled) and Rapture, both currently in pre-production, while One of Us and A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow are either finished or undergoing post-production.

Currently, few video game titles are as popular as Elden Ring, having sold over 30 million copies since its launch in 2022. This game immediately skyrocketed to fame and success, with the developer subsequently releasing an expansion (Shadow of Eritrea) and most recently, a new version called Elden Ring: Nightreign. However, Nightreign offers some variations compared to the original formula.

In simpler terms, “Nightreign” is a separate story set within the Elden Ring universe that doesn’t require ownership of the original game for play. It’s designed primarily as a multiplayer experience where you and friends can collaborate to conquer the game’s formidable bosses. With eight distinct characters available, your journey across an ever-changing landscape unfolds over three nights, culminating in a battle against a powerful Nightlord. Success grants you potent new items and advancement for future escapades.

In a nutshell, Tanner Dedmon from ComicBook gave the game a review, stating it was the intense, epic boss battle he’d been waiting for all along. Here’s a snippet of his complete review, and you can read the whole thing just over there.

In a typical scenario, game series and studios usually focus on either single-player or multiplayer games, with rare exceptions for crossovers. However, FromSoftware, renowned for creating the Dark Souls series, finds itself in an unusual position with Elden Ring: Nightreign. While it’s not generally considered a multiplayer game, it manages to deliver a surprisingly effective online experience thanks to years of Souls game development, resulting in a coherent and engaging online environment.

To put it another way, Elden Ring: Nightreign represents the culmination and opposite side of this experience. Primarily, it’s designed for friends to play together, but it also offers some solo play options. Moreover, among all the multiplayer Souls experiences I’ve encountered, Elden Ring: Nightreign is the best example I’ve seen thus far.
