Elden Ring 2 Is Not Happening, At Least Not Yet

As a gamer with countless hours under my belt, traversing the labyrinthine landscapes of From Software’s games, I must admit that hearing about no immediate plans for Elden Ring 2 leaves me feeling like an adventurer stranded on the shores of Limgrave, yearning to explore more of the Lands Between.

Currently, FromSoftware isn’t planning on developing Elden Ring 2, as stated by studio head Hidetaka Miyazaki in his post-award ceremony speech. This announcement came after the game’s Shadow of the Erdtree expansion won a recent award event.

Personally speaking as a gaming enthusiast, when asked about the potential sequel to Elden Ring, Mr. Miyazaki shared that at this moment, we aren’t actively thinking about something like Elden Ring 2.

Although no definite follow-up is on the horizon at present, Miyazaki hinted that the Elden Ring series might resurface in a different form at some point down the line. Previously, Miyazaki mentioned that there’s interest in turning Elden Ring into a movie, but as of now, no such venture has been confirmed.

As a passionate gamer speaking about my favorite dev team, I can confirm that fromSoftware is bustling with projects right now. Some of these games, I’m personally diving into their development, while other talented creators within the studio are steering the ship on the remaining titles. It’s an exciting time for us all!

2022 saw the debut of Elden Ring, a game that garnered an impressive following of 25 million players even before the release of Shadow of the Erdtree. Interestingly, despite its initial launch, the game has continued to sell well and currently ranks as the eighth best-selling game of 2024 in the United States.

This year, “The Shadow of the Erdtree” expansion has been selected as a contender for the prestigious Game of the Year award at The Game Awards. Notably, DLC and expansions are eligible for consideration in this category this year. The grand event is scheduled for Thursday, December 12.
