According to our sources at EbMaster, Peacock has secured the opportunity to adapt Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas‘ forthcoming book “Climbing in Heels” into a television show.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that my favorite network, Peacock, has given the intriguing drama project a script-to-series commitment! Back in December, the buzz was that Universal TV was preparing to sell this captivating show. The talented duo, Goldsmith-Thomas and Darren Star, were announced as co-writers and executive producers, ready to bring their vision to life on our screens.
Goldsmith-Thomas expressed great excitement because ‘Climbing In Heels’ was promptly removed from consideration by Peacock. They believe it is an ideal platform for them and Darren to breathe life into the intricate and vibrant characters we’ll see in this series.
As a movie enthusiast, I’d put it like this: “I’m captivated by this series that chronicles the journey of five determined secretaries climbing the ladder in the dazzling world of ’80s Hollywood. It sheds light on the exclusive boys’ club and the resilient women who dared to demand a place at the table where they were expected to cater.
The novel will publish on April 29 via St. Martin’s Press.
Star is thrilled to collaborate with Elaine on adapting her captivating book ‘Climbing in Heels’ into a movie,” she declared. “I can hardly contain my anticipation until viewers become smitten with the bold and determined heroines depicted.
Under Star’s fresh multi-year contract with UTV, “Climbing in Heels” will make its debut as the inaugural show. Known for his knack for creating successful series, such as “Sex and the City,” “Emily in Paris,” “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “Melrose Place,” and “Younger,” to name a few, this isn’t the first time he’s struck gold – many of these shows were adapted from novels. Star has also been involved in the production of the two “Sex and the City” movies, which together earned over $700 million globally.
Star is repped by UTA and Ziffren Brittenham.
As a seasoned movie critic, I’m thrilled to share my thoughts on Goldsmith-Thomas’s literary debut, “Climbing in Heels.” Previously known for co-writing the hit film “Second Act” in 2018, this dynamic woman made her mark as a trailblazing agent at the esteemed William Morris Agency. Her roster of A-list clients, including Jennifer Lopez, Julia Roberts, Madonna, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Spike Lee, and Nicolas Cage, speaks volumes about her influence in Hollywood. Climbing the ranks, she held the prestigious position of senior vice president at both The William Morris Agency and International Creative Management.
In the year 2000, she shifted her career to collaborate directly with Lopez as a producing partner and head of Nuyorican Productions. Since then, she has been responsible for bringing to life several films including “Maid in Manhattan,” “Mona Lisa Smile,” “Hustlers,” and “Marry Me.” She is currently represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and Hirsch Wallerstein.
