Eivind Landsvik’s ‘Low Expectations,’ Starring Singer Marie Ulven, aka Girl in Red, Boarded by Salaud Morisset (EXCLUSIVE)

Global rights for the debut feature film “Low Expectations,” directed by Eivind Landsvik, have been acquired by the international sales company Salaud Morisset, based in both Paris and Berlin. Notably, this film stars Marie Ulven, famously known as the vocalist and songwriter Girl in Red.

As a seasoned movie critic, I recently watched “Low Expectations,” a captivating tale that follows Maja, a 29-year-old artist who once basked in the limelight of success. However, her world crumbles when she hits rock bottom, leaving her despondent and penniless. With no other options, Maja is compelled to return home and take a teaching job at a local high school. This thought-provoking film delves into Maja’s personal odyssey as she grapples with the unforgiving realities of everyday life, ultimately embarking on a transformative journey of self-discovery.

The film, created by Lotte Sandbu and Synnøve Hørsdal for Maipo Film in collaboration with Snowglobe, is scheduled to begin filming around mid-May. This movie will be distributed by Nordisk Film Distribution across Scandinavia. The project received financial backing from the Norwegian Film Institute, the Danish Film Institute, Nordisk Film and TV Fond, and Eurimages.

Salaud Morisset has once again joined forces with this director, having previously showcased his short film “Tits” through their company. This film premiered in the Cannes Short Film Competition of 2023, was Oscar preselected, and attended over 120 festivals globally.

François Morisset, head of our sales company, expressed his excitement about our ongoing partnership with Eivind, and their shared work on his first feature film. He stated that we are eager to assist him in this endeavor. Eivind’s talent is highly valued by us, and we are confident that ‘Low Expectations’ will address significant topics – ambition, societal pressure, and the impact of social media – in a thoughtful manner. His portrayal of the quest for meaning and happiness in today’s world strikes a chord with us.

He mentioned that it’s a privilege for us to collaborate with the esteemed firms, Maipo Film and Snowglobe,” he said instead.

For some time now, we’ve collaborated with Eivind Landsvik on an amazing project, and we’re eagerly anticipating sharing this tale with the world in partnership with Salaud Morisset,” Synnøve Hørsdal, CEO of Maipo Film, expressed.

Over the past decade, Salaud Morisset has been leading the way in short film distribution, but now they’re branching out into full-length features. A prime example of this is “To a Land Unknown” by Mahdi Fleilfel, which debuted at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight and was sold to 40 different countries. Furthermore, it has been chosen for more than 100 film festivals around the world.
