As a passionate admirer of timeless literature adaptations, I am absolutely thrilled to witness the assembling of such an extraordinary cast for the Netflix adaptation of John Steinbeck’s “East of Eden.” The convergence of talents like Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton, Ciarán Hinds, Joseph Zada, and Joe Anders is a testament to the timeless allure of Steinbeck’s work.

It appears that actors Tracy Letts, Martha Plimpton, Ciarán Hinds, Joseph Zada, and Joe Anders have all signed up to be a part of the upcoming series. This includes Tracy Letts who has previously appeared in “Saturday Night” and “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty”; Martha Plimpton known for “The Regime” and “Mass”; Ciarán Hinds famous for “Belfast” and “Game of Thrones”; Joseph Zada recognized from “We Were Liars” and “Invisible Boys”; and Joe Anders, who has been seen in “Bonus Track” and “I Am Ruth”.
Additionally, they’ll join the already confirmed actors, namely Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, and Hoon Lee.
I’m delighted to take on the role of Cyrus Trask in this production, while my esteemed colleague Plimpton steps into the character of Faye. Hinds has been entrusted with portraying Samuel Hamilton, and Zada will bring Cal Trask to life. Lastly, Anders will breathe life into Aron Trask. We’re all eager to bring these characters to you on stage!
The series, like the novel by John Steinbeck, delves into the long-lasting story of the Trask family, particularly shining a light on its unforgettable main character, Cathy Ames, portrayed by Pugh.
The filming for a seven-part series has commenced in New Zealand. Besides her writing duties, Zoe Kazan is also the executive producer and joint showrunner. Notably, her grandfather, Elia Kazan, directed the initial movie version featuring James Dean. Jeb Stuart assumes the role of co-showrunner and executive producer as well. Pugh will not only star in the series but also serve as an executive producer. Garth Davis will direct the first four episodes and be an executive producer. Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, on the other hand, will direct episodes five through seven while serving as an executive producer. Antoine Douiahy and Zack Hayden are also listed as executive producers. The production companies, Fifth Season and Anonymous Content, will collaborate on this project.
