EA’s Black Panther Game Is Canceled, But It Has Three Marvel Games Still In Development

Essentially, EA has decided not to proceed with their planned Black Panther video game and shut down the studio responsible for it, Cliffhanger Games. However, gamers can anticipate playing at least three more Marvel-themed games as suggested by the publishing company.

The game featuring Black Panther was one of three titles that Marvel and EA agreed on as part of a contract. The other two games are an Iron Man game being developed by Motive Studio at this time, and another unnamed Marvel project. Although the Black Panther game has been canceled, the three-game agreement between Marvel and EA remains active, as confirmed to IGN by both parties.

According to a memo received by IGN from EA Entertainment’s President, Laura Miele, the bond with Marvel stays robust, and our extensive, ongoing alliance on multiple titles persists.

In simpler terms, the partnership between Marvel Games and EA, which involves creating unique stories featuring popular Marvel characters, continues to thrive. As stated by an anonymous source, the production of our console and PC games, starting with Marvel’s Iron Man, is overseen by Motive Studios.

The identity of what follows Iron Man is uncertain, but it seems reasonable to anticipate that the as-yet-unnamed game in production may be the next release. This is because Electronic Arts (EA) might be brainstorming which game will succeed Black Panther in their lineup.

Initially, players were expected to assume the role of Wakanda’s guardian in a single-player, open-world game under the Black Panther title, which unfortunately has been terminated. The team at Cliffhanger Games, who have recently experienced displacement, have been expressing their sorrow over the project’s cancellation on social media platforms. Artist Karla Oritz described the game as “Elaborate, vibrant, and stunning.

As a passionate gamer, I can’t help but feel a deep sorrow knowing that our vision won’t come to life in the world. It’s equally painful to bid farewell to the incredible team that made this journey so memorable.

This year, Electronic Arts (EA) has called off three games, and among them, Black Panther is the third title to be scrapped. The other two games were experimental projects at Respawn Entertainment, one of which was a game in the Titanfall series.
