EA FC 25’s New Paid Battle Pass Offers Exclusive Rewards!

In EA FC 25’s Season 7 update, a fresh type of pass called the Premium Pass is introduced. This functions similarly to a Battle Pass, offering unique perks such as exceptional player cards, player evolutions, and additional benefits.

As a dedicated gamer for quite some time now, I’ve come to rely on EA SPORTS Football Club (or FIFA) as a consistent source of entertainment and a bit of financial reward. The reason? Ultimate Team, the game’s star mode that empowers fans like me to craft our ideal teams by cracking open packs filled with players. We can splurge on these packs using in-game currency or FC Points, which we can purchase using real hard-earned cash.

Despite being the top-selling game in the UK in 2024, it was reported earlier this year that EA FC 25 fell short of the publisher’s targets. Now, with the much-anticipated Team of the Season event approaching, a new Premium Pass has been introduced across all primary modes.

EA FC 25’s new Premium Pass features exclusive rewards

On April 24th, Electronic Arts (EA) unveiled the Premium Pass as an upgrade to the existing free Season Pass. This add-on can be purchased using one of two options: 500,000 UT Coins, which you earn through playing games or selling players, or 1,000 FC Points (approximately $10/£9 in value).

After making your purchase, you’ll be eligible for rewards as you progressively level up by engaging in Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Clubs, along with those earned via the standard Season Pass. To achieve this, you’ll have to accomplish tasks that grant Season Pass points (SP).

Only those with a Premier Pass can access these unique prizes, which cannot be obtained through any other method. These rewards span across all game modes, but predominantly concentrate on the Ultimate Team, offering coveted player cards such as Team of the Season Flashbacks and Honourable Mentions, as well as Evolutions that enhance your current players.

In all, there are 40 ranks, and the top position grants you a choice between a tradable pack containing four items, each rated 90+, or an Immortal Icon card featuring Franck Ribery.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but notice the new in-game item they’ve added to Ultimate Team. It’s an optional extra, and I totally get that you don’t have to buy it if you don’t want to. However, considering how much microtransactions are already a part of this game, some players, including myself, can’t help but feel a bit uneasy about the new addition. It’s just something worth keeping in mind if you’re a player who values a more balanced approach to in-game purchases.

One frustrated player stated in response to the post on X, “This is really hitting a new low.” Another commented, “Making content exclusive to those with the Paid Season Pass feels incredibly greedy and isn’t the right direction.

On the flip side, some people supported this decision, claiming that a Battle Pass is a standard feature in many other games and that the prizes were valuable.

A player commented, “It seems like people are quick to label something as ‘greedy,’ forgetting that many games already have premium options. However, EA has handled it differently. Rather than forcing players to spend real money only, they provide an alternative way to access these features without spending real money.

“‘Money hungry?’ Look at it in-game, it’s 500k coins and super worth it,” added another.

As numerous players are expected to rejoin EA FC 25 before the Team of the Season, it’s clear that the publisher will closely watch the sales of the Premium Pass to determine if this feature might become a recurring one.
