EA FC 25 surprise update fixes speed boost glitch & nerfs through balls

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours invested in FIFA, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions upon hearing about this latest EA FC 25 update. On one hand, I’m relieved that the speed boost exploit has been fixed; it was getting tiresome seeing every player zip past defenders like they were on roller skates. But on the other hand, I can’t help but feel a twinge of nostalgia for the good old days when that trick was all the rage.

In simpler terms, the most recent update for FIFA 25 by Electronic Arts addresses an issue where players could gain an unfair speed advantage (speed boost exploit) and reduces the effectiveness of long-range passes, particularly in RUSH mode and other gameplay styles.

25 FC players found an effective maneuver: By pressing and holding the L1 button on PlayStation or LB on Xbox, followed by a quick tap of sprint, they could effortlessly outrun defenders and find themselves one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

As a dedicated soccer enthusiast, I’ve found myself relying heavily on that signature skill move at the critical moment just before the opposing defense line. However, it seems like EA Sports has taken notice of the unexpected speed boost and is encouraging us to explore fresh tactics in the final third of our gameplay.

In the meantime, this improvement also lessens the precision of initial long passes at various angles. Consequently, players can now avoid the bothersome kick-off glitch since it no longer occurs. This unexpected aspect previously allowed players to instantly send a long through ball straight to their forwards from the kick-off.

While Long Ball Pass Plus is likely to remain a top-tier PlayStyle in Ultimate Team, we don’t anticipate it to be as powerful as it was prior to this update. For instance, cards with this PlayStyle in RUSH used to effortlessly send balls over the defense.
