As a seasoned movie buff with a soft spot for thought-provoking narratives that delve into the complexities of human existence, I find myself intrigued by the concept of “Dogmaverse”. The intersection of technology and faith in a dystopian future is a theme that resonates deeply with my own life experiences.
Taiwanese production firms Luckysparks and AGE Creative have revealed “Dogmaverse,” a bold, animated collection of stories examining the blend of technology and belief systems set against a backdrop of a troubled future.
As a cinephile, I’m excited to share that my upcoming series delves into how advanced technology shapes religious beliefs and human spirituality. Each episode offers unique characters and settings, yet maintains a consistent thematic thread. We’re aiming to start production on the pilot episode by May 2026, and we’re currently engaged in discussions with various animation studios. Our goal is to incorporate diverse cultural perspectives into this project, making it a truly global exploration of faith and technology.
The project, set to be finished in July 2027, will unite a group of well-known Taiwanese creative minds, with the founder of Hi-Organic, Su Po-wei, serving as the executive producer.
Henry Chen, who has previously directed the film “The Love Motel” that was shown at the Hawaii International Film Festival, Outfest, and San Diego Asian Film Festival, found ideas for his series from his own life. As he puts it, “Charlie and I grew up in an international Christian school in Taiwan, despite our parents being devout Buddhists. We were immersed in this environment and it wasn’t until we left that we understood we had essentially been raised within a protective bubble.
Chen perceives similarities between the process of religious indoctrination and modern technological advocacy. He remarks, “The prophet’s statement is unequivocal: ‘AI is our future and it will rescue us all.'” Unlike traditional religion, this emerging ideology is deeply entrenched in technology, which makes it even more influential in shaping popular opinion.
The show delves into whether technology is fundamentally reshaping how humans react emotionally. As technology advances, people may find themselves more susceptible to strongly opposing opinions, Chen observes. In today’s world filled with an abundance of content and marketing that uses algorithms, our emotional experiences often lean towards the extremes.
Charlie Chen, a producer and co-founder of Luckysparks, has announced that the production plans to work together with several animation studios in order to incorporate diverse cultural viewpoints into every episode. The team is actively looking for more collaborators at this year’s Taiwan Creative Content Fest.
This creative ensemble consists of Teresa Daley, a renowned writer who’s famous for “Winds of September” and “In Case of Love,” and Parker Shen, an innovative director associated with AGE Creative, a fresh agency blending creativity and visual expression. Previously, Shen has crafted the acclaimed animated music video series “Mutant.” Additionally, Su Po-wei’s Hi-Organic, celebrated for their exceptional animation and visual effects, bolsters our project’s creative force. They have earned numerous nominations for the prestigious Golden Horse and Golden Melody Awards.
As a follower of Luckysparks, I’m proud to be part of a team that has earned its recognition since 2013 through global collaborative projects spanning commercials, music videos, animations, and documentaries. Not too long ago, we were thrilled to add another feather to our cap by producing the Netflix series “Let’s Talk About Chu.
