Dying Light: The Beast Announced With A Trailer Teasing The Return Of The First Game's Protagonist

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must confess, the announcement of Dying Light: The Beast has me both excited and cautiously optimistic. The trailer, while light on details, promises a return to the gritty world of Dying Light, a series that has always held a special place in my zombie-slaying heart.

Techland unveiled Dying Light: The Beast, the newest installment in their open-world zombie saga, featuring a trailer hinting at the comeback of the initial game’s main character, Kyle Crane, who will now be playable. This announcement was made during the Gamescom Opening Night Live event with an accompanying trailer.

As a gamer, I’ve just watched a trailer that’s intriguingly cryptic. It doesn’t divulge much, but it cleverly switches between the chaotic scenes of a squad of soldiers and this mysterious, terrifying entity tearing them apart. Now, when this enigmatic figure known as Crane finally shows up on screen, his ominous presence makes me wonder if perhaps I might be controlling this creature in the game. If you’re intrigued too, give the trailer a watch below.

In simpler terms, Crane hints that there’s a wild, untamed side to every person. If you provoke someone too much, they could reveal this hidden, powerful aspect, similar to how the game allows players to control both a stealthy zombie-hunter and a monstrous mutant character, as suggested by some parts of the trailer.

Following that, Opening Night Live host Geoff Keighley gave a bit more insight, referring to The Beast as “a fresh zombie adventure within the Dying Light universe offering around 20 hours of gameplay, a new open-world setting, and additional features.” Essentially, it seems like it’s somewhere in between an expansion for Dying Light 2 and a complete, self-contained game. As a gamer, I can’t wait to see what this new adventure brings!

2022 saw the release of Dying Light 2: Stay Human, a continuation of the series known for its dynamic parkour movement. It also introduced more complex character development and decision-making scenarios. Our team had varied opinions on the sequel; Mark Delaney in his review stated, “Though the game’s standout feature – first-person parkour – significantly improves upon its predecessor in this expansive sequel, unfortunately, many other aspects of the game do not meet the same standard.”
