As a fashion enthusiast with years of experience under my belt, I must say that this year’s Men’s Fashion Awards have been nothing short of captivating! The red carpet was a vibrant tapestry of style, personality, and panache, showcasing the diverse and eclectic world of modern masculinity.

As a child, John Mulaney, who was later honored as a GQ Man of the Year, had a feeling that someday this prestigious magazine would acknowledge him in such a manner.

As a film enthusiast, let me tell you that young John is one of the most extravagantly delusional individuals I’ve encountered. At the Men of the Year event held at Chateau Marmont in LA on Thursday, this was undoubtedly number 10 on my list of surprising encounters. Yet, it has been a truly enjoyable and unique experience. Despite being tempted to feign cynicism, I must admit that it’s all been quite delightful.

He shared that his wife, Olivia Munn, along with her mother, were overjoyed upon hearing the news from him. However, he joked that Olivia’s mom might have misinterpreted it, thinking he had been named “sexiest man alive.

This year’s Men of the Year roster also includes Dwayne Johnson, Pharrell Williams and Shaboozy.

The gathering had a country theme. Editor-in-chief Will Welch shared his reasons for choosing this style this time. “Country has been leading the way,” he told EbMaster, “I’ve always loved country music – Dwight Yoakam, Garth Brooks, and more like that – but it’s not just about my childhood favorites. Country has been dominating the charts, blending with hip hop to produce hits, artists like Post Malone and Beyoncé venturing into country with ‘Cowboy Carter’ and Pharrell showcasing a large cowboy collection for Louis Vuitton. It feels like the right time.

Later on, we were discussing how this year’s honoree is the 29th Man of the Year, emphasizing the need for continuous self-reinvention and reinvention of things. This sparked a concept: live streaming our event with an American rodeo ambiance and creating a state fair atmosphere. As soon as this idea took shape, the rest seemed effortless.

Moreover, Welch mentioned, “When you think of ‘an American rodeo,’ it instantly sparks interest – ‘I want to be a part of that.’ Everyone can participate by dressing up in a Western style for a rodeo; it’s amazing to see so many people embracing the theme tonight.
