As a fan who has followed Jared Padalecki‘s career since his days on Gilmore Girls, I must say that his experiences on set have always been fascinating to me. However, one story stands out as particularly memorable – the time he found himself unprepared for a surprise day of filming.
During his time on the set of “Gilmore Girls”, Jared Padalecki was still a greenhorn actor, figuring out the ropes of his profession. Consequently, it’s only natural that he made some mistakes along the way and wasn’t fully aware of all the responsibilities an actor assumes. This inexperience unfortunately led to a challenging situation for him, one that turned out to be a complete horror show.
On the set of Gilmore Girls, Padalecki wasn’t required daily because his role was not prominent, and he only appeared in a few scenes. He shared this during an interview with Chicago Tribune (via E! Online). On one occasion, he had no work until Friday, so he decided to spend Monday night out with friends, unaware that he might be needed on set the following day. However, he found himself waking up to 20 missed calls and learned that scenes involving him were to be filmed that very day.
As a gamer, I was informed that an unexpected shift occurred due to the hold-up in filming scenes with Lauren Graham because she needed to keep certain details under wraps. Consequently, we had to switch gears and film different scenes instead.
20 missed calls and messages woke me up. After grabbing a coffee and some water, I took a quick shower before heading to Warner Bros. I arrived about two hours late and without the scene properly prepared, but I had a general understanding of what was happening.
In a fortunate turn of events, Padalecki didn’t have many lines during those scenes, allowing him to quickly prepare for filming as his makeup was being done, which felt like a dream where one suddenly finds themselves unprepared and vulnerable, similar to showing up at school in your underwear.
In simpler terms, the experience was akin to having a recurring dream where one is unprepared and exposed at school. However, this situation was even more distressing as it involved being exposed in public, with cameras recording everywhere, ensuring the event would be preserved forever. To avoid such an uncomfortable feeling again, I’ve become exceptionally meticulous in my preparations for each episode we film. I thoroughly familiarize myself with every scene to ensure I am well-prepared and ready for anything that comes my way.
In an unanticipated turn of events, Padalecki found himself learning a priceless lesson: in his profession, every day could potentially be on-call, and he needed to stay ready for last-minute adjustments during filming, as these might require him to immediately resume work.
