‘Dune: Prophecy’ Trailer: The Bene Gesserit Are Created in Prequel Series Set 10,000 Years Before ‘Dune,’ November Release Set

As a devoted cinephile with a deep appreciation for science fiction and epic storytelling, I am thrilled to my core by the latest news about HBO’s upcoming series “Dune: Prophecy.” The trailer has only heightened my anticipation for this new addition to the rich and intricate universe Frank Herbert created.

I’m thrilled to share that HBO has unveiled the newest trailer for “Dune: Prophecy,” an upcoming television series from HBO. This exciting new show is set an astounding 10,000 years before the storyline of “Dune” as we know it. And get this – the six-episode season is scheduled to premiere on HBO in November! Can’t wait!

Among the actors in this production are Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Camilla Beeput, Sarah Lam, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Jade Anouka, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, and Chris Mason.

“The TV series ‘Dune: Prophecy,’ originally named ‘Dune: The Sisterhood,’ is inspired by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s book ‘Sisterhood of Dune.’ As stated in an official summary, this program portrays the Harkonnen Sisters (Watson, Williams) as they battle against adversaries endangering humankind’s existence and form the legendary order called the Bene Gesserit. The trailer reveals glimpses of the Bene Gesserit’s early history and intrigue-filled power struggles in outer space.”

Diane Ademu-John initially planned to work as a co-showrunner, but she resigned from her position in 2022. In her place, Alison Schapker took over as the sole showrunner and also served as an executive producer. Johan Renck is set to direct the first episode and produce it executively. Denis Villeneuve, Jon Spaihts, Scott Z. Burns, Matthew King, John Cameron, Cait Collins, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert are all executive producers on the project. Anderson contributes as a co-producer, and Max and Legendary TV collaborate in producing the series.

In my experience as a movie reviewer, Denis Villeneuve’s first “Dune” adaptation graced our screens on Max and in theaters back in 2021. Despite its simultaneous release on streaming, this epic film managed to rake in an impressive $385 million at the worldwide box office. Fast forward to March 1, 2023 – the release date of “Dune: Part Two” – and this continuation of the series has already surpassed its predecessor’s earnings with a stunning $715 million gross at the global box office. Until recently, it held the title as the highest-grossing film of the year, until being overtaken by “Inside Out 2.”
