Dune: Awakening PvP Strat Of Ramming People With Helicopters Will Be Fixed, Dev Says

Awakening, the freshly launched survival MMO inspired by Frank Herbert’s iconic science fiction series. However, some players have discovered an exploited strategy that the developers aim to rectify immediately.

Dune: Awakening was launched on June 5 for early buyers, while others had to wait until June 10. Already, some players have advanced to the game’s PvP-centric endgame, known as the Deep Desert. This is where the rare resource, Spice, can be found and where players engage in massive PvP battles to emerge victorious.

In some games, triumph can be brutally literal, as a recent gameplay trend featuring the flying Ornithopter vehicles has left many players squashed repeatedly from above. A player named Bombe18 shared their frustrating experience on the Dune: Awakening subreddit (through Eurogamer) by posting a video of their predicament. The clip demonstrates Bombe18 being crushed over and over as an Ornithopter collides with the ground. Each time Bombe18 revives themselves, they are immediately squashed again, and eventually, a second Ornithopter appears to intensify the misery.

In response to the video, Funcom’s Joel Bylos expressed regret and mentioned they were working quickly to address the issue of Goombas not being affected when stomped upon. While he didn’t elaborate on the specifics of the fix, it appears that players on Reddit generally think Ornithopters should sustain damage if they collide with the ground at high speeds.

In Dune: Awakening, players are equipped with explosives to handle vehicle encounters, and if they find themselves under attack by Ornithopters, they can counter by using their own vehicles for evasion or retaliation. However, it’s concerning that some flying vehicles seem indestructible and can crash without any repercussions. It’s reassuring to know that Funcom is keeping a watchful eye on this matter.
