How to add friends in Dune: Awakening

Currently, Dune: Awakening can be played exclusively on PC through Steam. Although it’s intended for future console release, your gaming sessions with friends are restricted to those who also own the game on Steam at this time.

Absolutely, streamlining the process for inviting friends to join me in Dune: Awakening is a breeze! All it takes is adding them on Steam, and voila! They’ll show up on my friends list within the game’s Social Hub. To access this hub, I simply navigate to the “Skills” page, then click the icon for the Social menu. Easy peasy!

To interact with your friends on Steam, simply hover your cursor over their names in the friend list. Then, you’ll find two icons: one labeled “invite” and another for joining a party. Simply click the one that suits your intention.

If you wish to connect with a friend within the game Dune: Awakening, you can use Steam as an intermediary. To accomplish this, navigate to the Social section and click on “Search Players”. In this area, you may add a player using their character name or Funcom ID. Each player receives a Funcom ID upon creating their character in Dune: Awakening, but if you’re aware of your friend’s in-game name, simply input that instead.

As soon as you extend a friendship invitation, you will get a message once it is accepted, and they will appear on your friends list. You can either send them an invitation or join their gathering from thereon.

In Dune: Awakening, groups are limited to five members. So, if you’re unable to join your friend, chances are their group is already at the maximum capacity.

How to play multiplayer in Dune: Awakening

Once you’ve invited your friends to join, let me walk you through how to interact with them in Dune: Awakening. The initial step is to guarantee that all potential teammates are connected to the same game server. To do this, select your preferred server from the main menu in Dune: Awakening. It’s strongly suggested that everyone in your group picks the same server so you can all share the same game map, spot each other during gameplay, construct a shared base together, and so on.

Playing with friends across different servers is possible, but it offers a more seamless experience when everyone is on the same server. If you choose to play with someone on another server, you’ll temporarily join their world as a guest instead of a full participant. One significant limitation here is that guests cannot build within their friends’ building spaces. So, if collaborative construction is important to you, I recommend playing together on the same server for a smoother gaming experience.

Sharing the same game server enables you to combine resources like Scavenged Metals and Power Cells in a single base. Moreover, it lets you synchronize abilities among all group members, giving you the advantage of various skill sets across the team.

Each member within the party has the freedom to decide their own login and logout times, thus preventing any single party leader from dictating when everyone starts or finishes their game. However, if you’re connected to different servers, there might be a waiting list (queue) that you need to join before being granted access to the server where your friend is currently playing.
