Individuals who purchased either the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition were granted early access to start playing from June 5th onwards. During this initial period, Dune: Awakening attracted a peak concurrent player count of 117,087 on Steam, a figure that is projected to grow significantly as the game is now officially launched and the pre-order phase has ended.

For PC gamers, Dune: Awakening is playable now, but don’t worry console fans, it’s also been confirmed for PlayStation and Xbox platforms. The console version is anticipated to be launched in the year 2026.

Dune: Awakening adheres to a traditional ownership model, meaning you buy it outright. While additional Downloadable Content (DLC) is available for purchase, the game isn’t in an Early Access phase, and there are no recurring subscription costs or microtransactions involved.

Last week, Funcom unveiled the game’s launch trailer during a live broadcast of Summer Game Fest. Now, they’ve shared a fresh compilation trailer that gathers key moments from previous trailers into a single video, commemorating its release on June 10th.

Dune: Awakening

Description: This is a massive, team-based survival game set on the harsh planet of Arrakis, inspired by the vibrant world conceived by Frank Herbert and breathtakingly realized in Denis Villeneuve’s and Legendary Entertainment’s acclaimed films. Players face extreme conditions such as scorching heat, lethal sandstorms, and relentless sandworms. They’ll craft tools ranging from weapons and protective gear to ground vehicles and flying ornithopters, while also vying for personal and political influence. You can choose to side with the Atreides or Harkonnen factions, contributing to events that shape the collective world. Dune: Awakening combines survival and MMO gameplay by offering expansive multiplayer systems where hundreds of players interact—trading, competing, and navigating political complexities across long-lasting servers.

Currently accessible is the Dune: Awakening Season Pass, offering the Wildlife of Arrakis DLC expansion. This bundle showcases four in-game statues depicting some of the planet’s resilient creatures – the sandworm, chiroptera, kulon, and Muad’Dib.

The final three downloadable content packs from the Season Pass are planned for launch in the last quarter of 2025, the first quarter of 2026, and the second quarter of 2026. Furthermore, Funcom intends to offer complimentary updates that introduce fresh content, new features, and improvements to the game.
