Bananza – a fresh 3D platformer starring the beloved Nintendo character. However, another detail that may have stuck with you is that Nintendo did not disclose the new console’s pricing details. In anticipation of the unveiling, this has been a hot topic of conversation, so its omission during the showcase was certainly noticeable. Interestingly, it appears that Nintendo may have deliberately held back on sharing this information.
Fans are not happy with Nintendo Switch 2 console and game prices
On Nintendo’s website, shortly after the Direct event ended, they disclosed the cost of the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and many of its games. The console itself will be priced at $449.99 for fans, which is $50 more than many had anticipated. While this increase isn’t catastrophic, it did cause a stir. However, what truly sparked controversy was the price of the new Mario Kart World game. This latest addition to the beloved Nintendo racing series will set a new standard for Triple-A game prices at $79.99.
Today’s Treehouse live stream seemed to reach a boiling point, with gamers clamoring for a price drop on several games showcased yesterday. Throughout the four-hour broadcast, I found myself drowning in a sea of messages urging “Lower the cost!” It felt like every other chat message was a plea for a discount during the live stream.
Breath of the Wild, even for those who have already purchased these games. To access the enhanced versions with included paid DLC, fans will need to spend more money.
One aspect that seems particularly disappointing is the exclusion of Switch 2 Welcome Tour from the list of free downloadable games.
In the past, Nintendo has demonstrated success with this strategy, such as with Wii Sports, a game bundled with the Wii console.
In this screenshot taken during a live stream, discussions about the enhanced versions of the Switch 2 and the related controversies from the “Switch 2 Welcome Tour” were spotted. Fans seem to be uniting around a shared issue. It remains to be seen if Nintendo will respond. The anticipated launch of the new Nintendo Switch is scheduled for June 5th, 2025, with pre-orders opening up in just a few days.
