In simpler terms, the well-known streamer DrLupo was disqualified from the PogChamps 6 chess competition due to accusations of unfair play during his game against YouTuber Wolfey. According to Chess.com, he breached their rules regarding fair play.
On the 30th of April, the 650-rated player known as DrLupo competed against Wolfey, boasting a 1340 rating, within the context of a $100,000 tournament.
Spectators observed that following an initial mistake in which DrLupo exposed his queen without protection, he went on to expertly play the rest of the game, making moves that were unexpectedly sophisticated for someone of his known ability.
As I played, it seemed like I occasionally switched my gaze between screens during crucial stages, giving the impression that I might have had some help from outside sources.
In response to the accusations, DrLupo stated on platform X, “I clearly detailed everything during my live stream while I was gaming. I didn’t use any unfair advantages. I had an excellent match initially but unfortunately lost the rest of the day.
On the live broadcast while I was gaming, I went over everything thoroughly, no shortcuts taken. The game turned against me later in the day, I lost badly.

DrLupo addresses chess cheating allegations
In his subsequent update, it appears he decided to withdraw himself, contrary to the impression given by Chess.com’s announcement that he may have been disqualified.
DrLupo stated that he enjoyed himself immensely during the game, but chose to withdraw from the competition in order to uphold fair play and support both the participants and the tournament organizers.
Watching the primary stream on my left monitor throughout the day, where other games were being played, inadvertently provided me with information that was not intended for the specific game I was focusing on.
I take full responsibility for that mistake; it’s all on me. I made a blunder, to put it mildly. Let me extend my apologies – honestly, I should have known better, but clearly, I didn’t learn as much as I thought. We live and learn, right?
Concerning the PogChamps tournament on chess.com:
I’ve had a blast participating, but I’ve chosen to withdraw from the event to support the competitive fairness for all participants and organizers alike. With the live stream running on my left screen throughout the day today…

In a reply, he admitted to reading chat, which he says was giving him moves.
I assure you that what I performed was genuine. Once I started, I found myself unable to look away. And just to clarify, I’m well aware of the consequences.
Chess.com, the organizers behind PogChamps, stated that DrLupo was disqualified from the chess competition for breaching “fairness rules.
