Drew Barrymore Says She Will ‘Try to Practice Physical Distance’ With Her Talk Show Guests: ‘Not My Strong Point’

As a fervent admirer and supporter of Drew Barrymore, I find her resilience and adaptability truly inspiring. Her journey from Hollywood’s brightest child star to a successful talk show host is a testament to her tenacity and versatility.

Drew Barrymore wants to start practicing the opposite of getting up close and personal.

Drew Barrymore, who just got an early renewal for her self-titled talk show, mentioned during an interview on Entertainment Tonight that she intends to maintain a safe distance when speaking with and hosting guests in the future.

“Barrymore acknowledged that maintaining social distancing isn’t easy for her, but she’ll give it a go. You might wonder how tough the pandemic was on her – she was all by herself in a studio! She prefers being with others.”

Barrymore stated: “Initially, our focus has been and will continue to be on promoting happiness, laughter, and positive feelings, which was something I’ve always aimed for. However, I never anticipated that we would debut during a pandemic. Emphasizing joy and humor during such an unusual and strange time felt peculiar and eccentric.”

I’m thrilled to share that news about the renewal of “The Drew Barrymore Show” reached us even before its Season 5 debut on September 9. It’s truly heartening to hear Wendy McMahon, the president and CEO of CBS News and Stations, as well as CBS Media Ventures, expressing her appreciation for Drew Barrymore, referring to her as a unique talent that is an integral part of the CBS and Paramount family.

“These initial improvements we’re making demonstrate our dedication to ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ and the faithful viewers who look forward to Drew’s charm, curiosity, and spontaneity each day,” she further explained.

Based on CBS reports, the program has been attracting an average audience of about 1.1 million viewers, accumulating close to 6 billion minutes of viewing time this season. The impressive viewership numbers have led to a promotion of the show’s time slots on CBS, allowing it to air in six different markets, including five major metropolitan areas among the top 10.
