Dressed Like Mario And Luigi, Brazil Cops Arrested Pickpocket Suspects At Carnival

In a typical scenario, when I imagine undercover police work, it’s usually associated with movies featuring stakeouts where officers use binoculars from hidden cars. However, during the Sao Paulo Carnival, Brazilian cops took a unique approach by disguising themselves as Mario and Luigi to apprehend suspected thieves, making for an unexpected undercover operation!

Governor Tarcisio de Freitas posted a video on X featuring three police officers. Two of them were dressed up like Super Mario Bros., while another seemed to be Yoshi. In the video, they can be seen putting a suspect in the back of a police car. The short clip also includes music from Super Mario World as its background score. Furthermore, according to Associated Press, Brazilian law enforcement officers donned Power Rangers costumes to apprehend several pickpockets and recover stolen smartphones.
