Drake & Josh Expose Brian Peck: The Shocking Truth Behind Nickelodeon’s Dark Past!

Drake Bell and Josh Peck recently teamed up for a podcast discussion, delving into their past friendship, its deterioration, and their shared experiences on Nickelodeon. They also bravely addressed some challenging topics regarding Brian Peck’s misdeeds. Please be advised, some listeners might find this subject matter upsetting.

In the previous year, Drake featured in ID’s riveting true crime documentary series titled “Quiet on Set.” This show unveiled the dark culture prevalent behind many popular children’s shows from the 2000s, sparking discussions about the well-being of child actors and their safety.

During that period, conversations shifted towards Josh as well. He was known for his role on The Amanda Show alongside Drake before they starred together in the popular 2004 Nickelodeon series, Drake & Josh. Despite having a strained relationship in the past, they have since managed to rekindle their friendship.

Following a moment of silence on set, Josh openly showed his backing for Drake. This week, both of them were guests on Josh and Ben Soffer’s Good Guys podcast where they delved into their past. During this conversation, the name Brian Peck (unrelated to Josh) surfaced in their discussion.

Who is Brian Peck?

Back in 2003, Brian Peck was apprehended at the age of 43 for committing sexual assault against Drake Bell, who was then 15 years old, an incident that occurred in 2001. He received a 16-month prison sentence in 2004 and was mandated to register as a sex offender.

Before finding myself in this current situation, I was quite the familiar face in the world of acting. Known affectionately as the “Pickle Boy,” I made my mark on Nickelodeon’s All That. You might also remember me from Boy Meets World, Good Burger, Growing Pains, and The Amanda Show.

After his guest spot on All That, Peck secured a job as a dialogue coach, enabling him to connect with Drake. Even though Drake’s name wasn’t mentioned in the court case for privacy reasons, he disclosed that he was the subject of the incident referred to as Quiet on Set.

Regardless of the allegations against Peck and his classification as a sex offender, Drake shared that many figures within the entertainment industry supported their abuser. This group included the directors and stage managers of The Amanda Show, specifically Rich and Beth Correll.

Shortly following his release from prison, Peck once more collaborated with the Corrells on the Disney Channel series, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody.

It turned out that Peck limited his roles to voiceovers, avoiding any direct interactions with the cast. A source disclosed to the media that he was dismissed from the network upon discovery of his previous conviction.

Nevertheless, many believe he should not have been given another chance to work, as evidenced by Kate Taylor’s statement from Business Insider: “It underscores the fact that our current protection measures are insufficient to prevent individuals with a history of sexual misconduct from appearing on children’s television shows.

What was he charged with?

In this scenario, when Peck was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department, he was hit with 11 counts in total. Among these charges were accusations of lewd behavior towards a minor, sexual acts on a person younger than 16 years old, and an attempt to commit such acts on another individual under the age of 16.

Included among the additional charges are:

1. Acts of sexual intercourse with a foreign object.
2. Four instances of performing oral sex on someone under the age of 16.
3. Oral sex acts while under the influence of anesthesia or controlled substances.
4. Sending harmful material, and
5. Exploiting a minor for sexual purposes.

According to the LAPD, the investigation, involving a search of Peck’s home, continues. He is currently detained awaiting his court appearance on allegations of molestation. The bail for his release has been set at $500,000.

He didn’t deny but also didn’t admit guilt for two out of eleven accusations: engaging in sexual acts with a minor below 16 years old and committing indecent acts with a minor.

Where is Brian Peck now?

As a devoted admirer, I’d share that I’ve long suspected, given my diligent perusal of reliable sources like IMDb, that the talented Peck has chosen to reside in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. However, it seems his recent projects have taken a brief hiatus from the entertainment industry, spanning several years.

Despite being a former convict for sexual offenses, it’s worth noting that he briefly worked on the Disney show following his release from prison. Remarkably, he later secured multiple positions in both the cast and crew of various productions.

Among the films he’s appeared in are Bedtime Stories from 2008, Captain Battle: Legacy War in 2012, and Freaks of Nature in 2015. Most recently, Peck was spotted out and about in March 2024 by TMZ, near his residence in Los Angeles.

In the Good Guys podcast, Drake and Josh discuss Peck, labeling him as a formidable character. Drake revealed that during the hiatus between The Amanda Show and Drake & Josh productions, he confided in his mother about the mistreatment he experienced.

During the filming of our first episode, we were right in the midst of an investigation, yet no one knew anything since Brian hadn’t been taken into custody at that point,” he explained. The most troubling aspect for him was having the ‘monster’ present in a location that had once felt secure.

Later on, Josh remembered his chat with Drake during which he inquired about their ongoing relationship with Peck. Drake responded negatively by saying, “No, Brian is a truly unsavory character.” Although Josh had noted this, it was only after watching Quiet on Set that he fully grasped the reasons behind Drake’s stance.

In watching the documentary, it became clear to Josh that his punishment alone was not enough – thankfully he received a fair trial and served time commensurate with his crimes, but have you considered the emotional turmoil you experienced?

It’s far more significant and objectionable than any of that. It’s not as simple as ‘He was jailed, so everything is resolved.’

Listen to the first episode of the Good Guys podcast featuring Drake Bell, which you can find on common streaming platforms or directly from Josh’s YouTube channel. The second part will be released on Thursday, March 27.
