Drake Bell and Josh Peck recently came together for a heartfelt discussion on Peck’s podcast, ‘Good Guys’, reminiscing about the documentary ‘Quiet on Set‘ and their time on Nickelodeon. In an episode that aired on March 24th, they opened up about Bell’s past abuse by producer Brian Peck (not related to Josh) and its impact on their friendship during their teenage years. They had first bonded while working together on ‘The Amanda Show‘, sharing a fondness for classic TV sitcoms and developing their chemistry as a comedy duo. However, the abuse that Bell suffered at the hands of Brian was a burden he carried with him into their next project, even when Brian wasn’t always present. “The significant gap between ‘Drake & Josh‘ and ‘Amanda Show‘ was when I told my mom about what was happening,” Bell revealed. “During the filming of the pilot, we were right in the middle of the investigation, but no one knew because Brian hadn’t been arrested yet.” Although Brian wasn’t a producer on ‘Drake & Josh‘, he often visited the set, and Bell anticipated his arrest. “I knew that this guy was going to be arrested,” Bell said. “I could sense that trouble was brewing, and no one else in here was aware of it.” At 14, Josh wasn’t privy to these events and couldn’t understand why Bell was distancing himself. “It wasn’t until you shared what was happening with me that I began to see things from a different perspective,” Josh admitted.
In 2003, Brian Peck was apprehended and convicted for indecent behavior towards a minor. It wasn’t until 2024, in the “Quiet on Set” documentary, that Drake Bell publicly acknowledged being abused by Brian. After appearing in the documentary, Drake shared that he sought treatment following his interview with the production team. In the upcoming episode of their podcast, Drake Bell and Josh Peck will continue their conversation, with this one marking the first installment of their series.
