Square Enix has released an updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for the “Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake,” clarifying that there will be no upgrade option available for the Nintendo Switch or potential successor, the Nintendo Switch 2.
Additionally, Square Enix clarified that the Switch 2 edition and the original Switch release of the game are distinct entities, meaning you can’t transfer your progress from one to the other. However, it’s important to note that the Switch version will be playable on the Switch 2 through backward compatibility.

These bonuses will also be accessible on the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake for Nintendo Switch 2 from the save data of its predecessor (Switch 1). However, please note that there is no option to transfer save data directly between the versions of Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake on Switch 1 and Switch 2.
