Dragon Ball Sparking Zero Gameplay
As an ardent Dragon Ball fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. This captivating fighting video game was masterfully crafted by none other than Spike Chunsoft, the very team behind the iconic Budokai Tenkaichi series from way back in the early 2000s.
Following the Budokai series, there emerged Budokai Tenkaichi, called “Sparking” in Japan. This trio of games offered a significantly expanded gaming experience compared to its predecessors. Rather than being confined to two-dimensional space, Tenkaichi enabled players to traverse the map and even fly around. Sparking Zero reintroduces that original gameplay style.
Additionally, Sparking Zero boasts an extensive cast primarily drawn from Budokai Tenkaichi 3, supplemented by additional characters to reflect Dragon Ball Super. Consequently, you’ll have the opportunity to engage characters hailing from Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and Dragon Ball Super. This roster also encompasses movie characters such as Broly and Cooler.
With Sparking Zero, you can engage battles across diverse settings inspired by various series, each boasting destructible surroundings. Unleash your Spirit Bomb or any other technique to obliterate Earth, Namek, or another realm as desired.
As a devoted fan, I can confidently say that Sparking Zero’s gameplay echoes the classic formula of Budokai Tenkaichi. Just like before, I can gather Ki, string together combos, and unleash signature moves unique to each character in the franchise. For instance, Goku can fire off a Kamehameha, or Piccolo can bring out his Special Beam Cannon. But remember, these powerful moves require a charge of Ki. Moreover, there are special moves that demand an even longer charge of Ki before they can be used.
These unique maneuvers dish out massive harm. For instance, Goku’s Spirit Bomb can obliterate enemies with low health. However, to maintain an engaging battle, you can metamorphose. Transformations are available in Sparking Zero, and you’ll witness your beloved characters reaching their peak form.
Overall, Sparking Zero features a multitude of non story-modes to play in:
- Edit Mode – Select players, camera cuts, pose, effects, dialogue, music, and more. Customize your own battle, including character health and damage. Furthermore, you can upload these battles online for players to enjoy. Lastly, edit Bonus battles as a base to help yourself understand the system.
- Tournament Mode – Create your own offline or online tournament to play with others. From the Cell Games to the Yamcha Games, there’s tons of tournaments you can partake in.
- Battle Mode – Online Mode where you face players across various tournaments
- Ranked Match – Online matchmaking mode with character cost restrictions to create a balanced experience
- Encyclopedia – Chi-Chi, Bulma, and Videl provide commentary on each character
Sparking Zero Story Mode
Overall, Sparking Zero features two different story modes:
Episode Mode allows you to explore the adventures of eight diverse Dragon Ball characters across distinct levels, each offering unique cutscenes that give you decision-making opportunities. Curious about the outcomes if Goku didn’t self-sacrifice against Raditz? You’ll witness various scenarios unfold with these eight characters.
- Goku
- Gohan
- Vegeta
- Piccolo
- Future Trunks
- Frieza
- Goku Black
- Jiren
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that Sparking Zero offers Custom Battles. These are combat scenarios that closely adhere to the original series without any modifications. Additionally, there are Bonus Battles where you must meet alternate victory requirements to progress further.
In summary, here’s a rundown of all the essential details about Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. We eagerly await its release, and for those who have already purchased the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition, we hope you’re having a great time playing it. Catch you on the battlefield when Sparking Zero drops this week!
