As a long-time talk show host and psychologist, I’ve always valued open dialogue and fairness. After numerous attempts to engage with Kamala Harris‘ campaign for an interview, I felt frustrated when they turned me down repeatedly. So, when the opportunity presented itself at Trump’s rally, I saw it as a chance to express my thoughts freely – a form of rebellion, if you will.
A week following his speech at Donald Trump’s October 27th rally at Madison Square Garden, Dr. Phil clarified that he does not support Trump as a presidential candidate. His presence at the event was actually an act of defiance, stemming from Kamala Harris’ campaign reportedly turning down his requests for an interview.
Phil McGraw, also known as the television personality, expressed that he made over 25 attempts to reach out and speak with Kamala Harris, yet he didn’t receive even a simple ‘yes’, ‘no’, or ‘maybe’ in response,” stated McGraw during an interview with Piers Morgan.
McGraw stated that he was willing to deliver the same speech at a rally supporting Harris. He further mentioned that he would replace ‘Trump’s name’ with ‘Harris’ name in the speech.” (In his 17-minute address, McGraw also criticized the media and cancel culture, and made an argument for why Trump should not be labeled as a ‘bully’).
After speaking at Trump’s rally, McGraw asserted that a representative from the Harris campaign contacted him about the prospect of addressing a Harris rally in Washington D.C. According to McGraw, he replied to the Harris team saying, “Definitely, let me know the time and location, and I will prepare a transcript of my speech and deliver it at your rally.
“Never heard another word once they found out I was serious,” McGraw said.
McGraw clarified that he didn’t address the crowd at the Madison Square Garden rally with the intention of endorsing Donald Trump. He dislikes celebrity endorsements in general.
As a movie critic, let me express that my stance from the Trump rally remains unwavering, not an inch nor a single word. If given the chance, I’d attend a rally for Vice President Harris without hesitation and repeat every word of what I said then.
When Morgan inquired about whom McGraw intended to vote for, he replied, “I believe I’ve made up my mind, but I won’t disclose it.
Regardless of who it may be, we’re all fellow citizens, and when America elects its president through the due process, it’s important for us to rally our support behind that individual. Furthermore, it’s crucial to maintain respect for the office of the presidency.
Dr. Phil McGraw, the ex-psychologist known for hosting the “Dr. Phil” show from 2002 until 2023, made an appearance at Trump’s New York rally and characterized the former president as being “as hard as a longstanding military boot.
At the rally, McGraw made it clear that while he may not always agree with or appreciate everything Donald J. Trump does or says, no one is flawless. Instead of aiming for perfection, we aim for excellence. It’s possible to care for someone deeply without admiring every aspect of them, and what Trump doesn’t need is an endorsement from a celebrity like me.
He went on to gripe about how celebrity endorsements are covered by the media. “I would love to say it’s equal on both sides, but I’ll guarantee you when Beyonce, George Clooney, De Niro and Rizzo come out and say they’re for Kamala Harris, did you read anything or hear anything in the media criticizing it?” McGraw said. “No, but you watch what happens tomorrow morning when people find out I came here to talk to you.”
