Dori Media Launches Sales Office in India, Taps Devdatta Potnis to Run It (EXCLUSIVE)

As a movie buff with a deep appreciation for international cinema and a keen interest in the business side of things, I am absolutely thrilled to see Dori Media Group expanding its reach into the Indian market. With an impressive roster of hit shows under their belt, including “In Treatment,” “Losing Alice,” and “Power Couple,” among others, it’s no wonder they’re looking to capitalize on the dynamic growth in the Indian media industry.

As a passionate cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that Dori Media Group, a renowned multinational studio, is broadening its horizons and making its grand entrance into the lucrative Indian market. To spearhead this new venture, we’ve brought on board Devdatta Potnis, an accomplished media executive with deep roots in the region. Together, we’re eager to explore the rich opportunities that India has to offer and bring high-quality content to audiences there.

The company responsible for producing popular shows like “In Treatment,” “Losing Alice,” “Lalola,” “The New Black,” and “Power Couple” has established branches in Israel, Spain, Switzerland, and Argentina.

A media professional with nearly two decades of expertise in the Indian media industry, Potnis previously held the position of CEO at Animeta, a tech startup specializing in Gen AI technology based in India. Prior to that, he worked as the chief growth officer for Cosmos-Maya, an animation studio headquartered in India and Singapore. During his tenure, he spearheaded the successful sales of over 25 television series for the company.

In addition to his expertise in various fields of the media sector, Potnis has worked in production, finance, marketing, and development. Before joining Cosmos-Maya, he held the position of Marketing & Communications Chief Manager at Reliance MediaWorks Ltd.

He has held the positions of Associate Vice President of Marketing at Balaji Motion Pictures Ltd., and Head of Sales and Marketing for Maya Digital Studios.

As a movie buff and an insider in the industry, I’m excited to welcome Devdatta on board with his extensive experience to our team at Dori Media. His addition will significantly help us broaden our global sales reach. For years now, we’ve been successfully selling content in India, and recently, the explosive growth in this marketplace has made it a must-have for us to establish an office in Mumbai.

Potnis agreed, expressing his enthusiasm: “Dori Media boasts an exceptional collection of programming and is responsible for producing and disseminating several top-performing shows within our industry. These series evoke intense human emotions that resonate with viewers worldwide, including in India. Therefore, I’m thrilled to be coming on board to contribute to Dori Media’s expansion in the Indian market.”

DMG’s upcoming sales lineup includes two high-octane dramatic series, “Amia” and “Indal.”

“‘Amia’ was filmed in Uruguay and Argentina and drew inspiration from the tragic terrorist acts against Israel’s embassy in 1992 and the Argentinean Jewish community in 1994.”

A police officer’s kidnapping by a group of Ethiopian Israeli youngsters leads to countrywide demonstrations, with “Indal” being one of the instigating incidents.

Dori Media announced that they will be selling the latest Spanish-language installments of “Lalola,” which debuted on ViX in February. Additionally, they are granting the show’s format rights for markets outside of Latin America and the US. “Lalola,” a modern adaptation of a beloved romantic comedy with International Emmy nominations, is brought to us by Dori Media International. Originally broadcast from 2008 to 2009, this series follows Lalo, a notorious ladies’ man, who unexpectedly transforms into Lola, determined to find a solution to reverse the enchantment.
