Doom 64 and Retrurn to Castle Wolfenstein Are On Sale For Dirt Cheap

Everyone loves a good deal, and if you’re looking for some great classic first-person shooter games, you’re in luck!

Right now, Fanatical.com has Doom 64 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein on sale for just $1.77! Keep in mind these codes can only be used on Steam. That’s a 65% discount from their regular price of $4.99.

These games are already a great value, but right now you’re basically getting two for the price of one! The sale lasts until April 26th.

With the recent popularity of ‘boomer shooters’ like Mouse: P.I. For Hire, it’s a great time to check out classic shooters – many are available for free or at a low cost. There was a lot of excitement for the genre at PAX East this year, particularly for the upcoming Brazilian Drug Lord 4. If you’re interested, Brazilian Drug Lord 3 is available on Steam and is a fantastic game.

Doom 64 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein Are Both Excellent Boomer Shooters

Doom 64 originally came out in 1997 and was only available on Nintendo 64. It became playable on other systems in 2020. Even with the Nintendo 64’s hardware limitations and somewhat clunky controller, reviewers at the time considered it the most visually impressive game in the Doom series.

Doom 64 has gained a dedicated fanbase over the years, even though some players felt it was a bit too similar to the original Doom. However, the successful Doom reboot series that started in 2016 proved that it’s perfectly fine to build on what already works well.

The approach behind Return to Castle Wolfenstein was key to its success. When it launched on PCs in 2001, the game’s classic style, along with its highly engaging multiplayer mode, made it one of the top shooters of that year.

I really loved Return to Castle Wolfenstein when it came out, but it felt a bit lost in the shuffle when Halo exploded onto the scene. Even though the multiplayer expansion, Enemy Territory, was super popular and free, the whole Wolfenstein series kind of faded away for a while until they brought it back in 2014. It’s great to see it’s still around!
