The Borderlands games are famous for bringing back favorite characters, and Claptrap is arguably the most memorable. This small, energetic robot has become the face of the series, and for good reason – he’s charming and always seems to be in a good mood. However, he’s always been a bit over-the-top, and that hasn’t changed in the newest game. But what if you could actually control how loud he is?
While Claptrap doesn’t appear quite as often in this new Borderlands game as he has in past titles, he still shows up enough that Gearbox included a special setting just for him. If you find the robot more annoying than funny, you can now adjust his volume independently of the rest of the game’s sound, or even mute him completely!
We can sense your excitement, so we’ll tell you how to turn down Claptrap’s voice in Borderlands 4.
How to turn off Claptrap’s voice in Borderlands 4
If you want to silence Claptrap in Borderlands 4, first pause the game. Then, go to the “Options” menu, select “Audio”, and then choose “Advanced”. You’ll find the setting to control Claptrap’s voice at the very bottom of that menu.

You can change how loud Claptrap is, all the way down to completely silent. Even if you turn his volume off, you’ll still be able to see what he’s saying through subtitles when you find items or work on quests with him, so you won’t miss any important information.
Feel free to turn Claptrap’s volume down if he bothers you, but please don’t tell him you’ve done so. He can be a bit irritating at times, but it’s best not to upset his feelings.
