Don’t Miss the Shocking Twists in Lazarus Episode 8: Release Date Revealed!

Although much buzz surrounded Shinichiro Watanabe’s new anime series, it has largely gone unnoticed due to the mixed reactions towards its initial episodes. Many fans were hoping for a nostalgic return to Watanabe’s classic style but felt let down by the innovative storytelling approach and what seemed to be a leisurely pace in the main plot. However, since “Unforgettable Fire” in Episode 8 of Lazarus, things have started picking up significantly. In fact, Episode 7 of Lazarus brought several unexpected revelations that dramatically altered viewers’ understanding of the Lazarus Team and its leader, Hersch.

It’s worth mentioning that Hersch and Dr. Skinner were once very close, but then, unexpectedly, Skinner vanished without a trace or any explanation. Axel, on the other hand, uncovered a startling revelation: Skinner has been deliberately leading the group to certain locations that he himself found intriguing, probably to help them grasp the mindset that drove him to create the lethal drug called Hapna. Unfortunately for the group, they’ve got Chris’s abduction by a secretive team of agents to contend with first, which occurred at the end of Episode 7. As the series progresses towards its conclusion, the tensions are escalating, and Episode 8 promises to be a pivotal turning point in the storyline for Lazarus.

When Does Lazarus Episode 8 Come Out?

New Episodes of Lazarus Air Weekly on Adult Swim’s Toonami Block

Chris is going to have quite a challenge ahead when Lazarus comes back in Episode 8. This is definitely an episode that fans won’t want to miss as soon as it airs. Fortunately, new episodes of Lazarus are shown every Saturday on Adult Swim consistently. Therefore, Lazarus Episode 8, titled “Unforgettable Fire”, will be broadcast live on Adult Swim on May 24, at 12AM EST (which technically falls under May 25). After its initial airing, it will be available for streaming on HBO MAX the next day, on May 25, around 9:30AM EST.

For “Lazarus” episodes shown on Adult Swim and initially released on HBO MAX, the English Dub version is always used. The Japanese versions of “Lazarus” with English subtitles are published approximately two weeks following the anime’s English Dub release on MAX. This means that the subtitled version of “Lazarus” Episode 8 will be available on MAX on June 5th. Although the English Dub was initially met with criticism from viewers during its early episodes, the voice acting cast has since significantly improved and brought these characters to life in a way that makes both versions enjoyable to watch.

Initially, it was set that Lazarus would span over 13 episodes, but viewers were unsure if a second season might follow. However, based on hints within the show, it’s obvious that the final episode of Lazarus will air on Saturday, June 28. The finale will become available for streaming on June 29, and subtitled versions will be released on July 10. As Episode 7 concluded, it was signaled that only 14 days remained before the events of Episode 8 started, which suggests that the 30th day coincides with Episode 13. Given that each episode covers approximately 2 to 3 days, this aligns with the final episode wrapping up the series.

Lazarus Episode 7 Took the Group on a Vacation Which Ended Poorly For Chris

Their Latest Mission to Find Skinner Changed Everything for Team Lazarus

In “Almost Blue” (Episode 7 of Lazarus), the Lazarus Team took a pause to contemplate their experiences and newfound insights about Skinner, following their mission up until then. With data from Naga AI that Eleina’s former cult, Tower of God, once revered, the team discovered a possible lead on Skinner’s whereabouts. As it turned out, Skinner had acquired land on four secluded islands which eventually vanished beneath the ocean due to climate change-induced rising sea levels.

In an attempt to locate Skinner (or uncover more details about his whereabouts), Douglas, Leland, Axel, and Chris were each sent separately to Manila Bay, the Maldives, the Sakashima Islands, and Tuvalu. During their stays, they all basked in the sun, marveled at the crystal-clear skies and oceans, and became acutely aware of the devastating impact humans have on the pristine natural environment we often overlook. It was particularly striking to Chris, who began to seriously ponder the harshness of human nature.

During their colleagues’ tropical break, Hersch uses the opportunity to catch up with supervisor Abel at a museum. Here, they talk about their mission. Notably, Hersch mentions she has a close bond with Dr. Skinner, and there are hints they might have had a romantic relationship. This is suggested by her statement about feeling abandoned by Skinner. It seems that Hersch’s pursuit of Skinner is driven by personal motives. Abel does acknowledge his regret for placing Hersch in this predicament due to her connection with Skinner.

Beyond her own experiences with Skinner, Hersch also hints that Axel is the key to understanding everything related to him. The specifics of this are yet to be clarified, but it’s undeniable that throughout the mission, Axel plays a crucial role. This is evident in Episode 7, where Axel uncovers the possibility that Skinner drew inspiration for Hapna from a unique group of people in the Maldives who suffered from a condition called “analgesia,” rendering them incapable of feeling pain. However, Team Lazarus doesn’t have time to bask in this small victory. Following a tiring journey through Tuvalu, Chris is apprehended by two enigmatic figures who seem familiar with her. These individuals address Chris as “Alexandra” and take her into their custody.

Chris Is Taken Hostage in Lazarus Episode 8

Dr. Skinner Might Be the Least of Team Lazarus’ Worries After Their Team Member Is Kidnapped

In Episode 8 of “Lazarus,” titled “Unforgettable Fire,” the team grapples with the aftermath of Chris’ disappearance at the end of the previous episode. The sneak peek of “Lazarus” Episode 8 hints at the consequences of Chris’ abduction. It appears that Chris, sensing her environment, realizes she has been kidnapped and transported to an oil rig in the heart of the Arctic Ocean, specifically the Barents Sea. Given her origins, this location—north of Russia—is fitting. The individuals responsible for her kidnapping seem to be old acquaintances holding a grudge against Chris, one that has not yet been disclosed.

Chris finds herself imprisoned on an icy oil platform, under the control of Russian agents. Despite discovering that Chris used to work as a spy for Russia, the team bands together in an effort to rescue her.

– Official Lazarus Episode 8 Description

From what I’ve observed, much about Chris’ past has remained shrouded in mystery until now. She hasn’t been open about it herself, and even when she jokingly referred to herself as a “secret agent” to Leland, it wasn’t clear whether she was telling the truth or not. However, in Episode 8 of ‘Lazarus’, the official description hints that Chris was indeed truthful with Leland. This revelation is bound to take everyone by surprise. It’s intriguing to consider that her unusual drug tolerance might be a result of rigorous training she underwent as a Russian spy, given the nature of such work.

In a fascinating twist, it’s becoming clearer that Chris was able to effortlessly eliminate Sam’s associates. Given her possible alliance with the American government following her capture, this could explain why her former teammates are now against her in the series Lazarus.

Moreover, it seems like Lazarus is subtly hinting at a connection between Chris and Dr. Skinner in the latest episodes. It’s plausible that while Team Lazarus prioritize saving Chris over their primary mission of locating Skinner in Episode 8, they might stumble upon an unexpected detail about Skinner unintentionally.

Given Hersch’s apparent familiarity with Skinner, it’s likely she had a compelling reason for selecting Chris to join the team, and this could be revealed in Lazarus Episode 8.
