Don’t Miss Out on Marvel Rivals’ Epic Galacta’s Gift Event Rewards!

Although Marvel Rivals was initially released in December 2024, the game has already reached a significant milestone by commemorating its entry into the Closed Alpha testing phase. Despite appearing to be quite soon, the game underwent an Alpha and Beta test period before becoming accessible to all players.

On May 14, 2025, it’s been a year since Marvel Rivals began its Closed Alpha testing, and now we’re ready to celebrate with Galacta’s Gift! So far, players have been earning rewards simply by playing the game. The Galacta’s Gift event offers another opportunity to claim a free character cosmetic, but what makes this event special is the exclusive, one-time reward that’s up for grabs – something never seen before in the game, so don’t miss out!

Marvel Rivals’ Galacta’s Gift Event, Explained

A Permanent Event Starting May 15

Currently, I’m thrilled to share that as of May 15, 2025, Galacta’s Gift has commenced! Thankfully, this event is permanent, so there’s no need to worry about it ending anytime soon. This allows players like me to enjoy the event at our own pace, even if life gets in the way and we miss a day or two of logging in.

Remarkably, Galacta’s Gift operates much like the Pick-Up Bundle did. You might remember the Pick-Up Bundle, a $2.99 in-game purchase that offered daily missions to players. Upon buying the bundle, we were gifted the “Hyper Orange” Venom cosmetic, a costume coin, and various other rewards.

Similarly, each day, you can log in, play three matches in quick play, competitive, or versus AI, and reap the rewards for that specific day! So, even if you’ve got a busy schedule, you can still earn your daily rewards when it suits you best.

As a gamer diving into the Marvel Rivals universe, let me tell you that there’s a distinct difference between the Galacta’s Gift event and the Pick-Up Bundle. Unlike the Pick-Up Bundle, which may require an in-game purchase, the Galacta’s Gift event is entirely free to participate in. You don’t need to spend a dime to join the fun! Each day, you can log in and take on the daily mission, just like how it works with the Pick-Up Bundle. The first mission, much like the Pick-Up Bundle’s requirement, was to play three matches. Expect that each day’s task will be a straightforward challenge involving match play, as Marvel Rivals hinted at in their tweet: “Play three matches to start your Galacta’s Gift adventure!

All Available Rewards from the Galacta’s Gift Event

In sequential fashion, players acquire these rewards. They’re not allowed to jump straight to a desired reward. Once a player fulfills each day’s task, the next unlockable reward automatically becomes accessible. By logging in and completing their daily tasks for seven days in a row, a player can collect all seven rewards within one week.

  1. Reward 1: “Doctor Doom” nameplate
  2. Reward 2: 4 Chrono Shield Cards (more about these later)
  3. Reward 3: “Better Stop That Vehicle!” Galacta spray
  4. Reward 4: 4 more Chrono Shield Cards
  5. Reward 5: “Hulk Plush” spray
  6. Reward 6: “Doom 2099” nameplate
  7. Reward 7: 1 Costume Coin
    • Costume Coins can be spent on any costume available in the “Exchange” section of the in-game store.

Every Costume Available for the Costume Coin Exchange:

At present, you’ll find 33 eye-catching costumes up for grabs in the Exchange store. Out of these, a whopping 32 costumes belong to the epic (purple) rarity category, while one is legendary (gold). The legendary costume features Bruce Banner and Hulk in their “Green Scar” attire, which joined the Exchange store on May 15th. If you’ve already collected all the available costumes or simply don’t fancy any of them, you can swap your Costume Coin for a cool 100 units instead!

Chrono Shield Cards Will Make Achieving Gold an Easier Climb

A Brand-New Resource for Making Competitive a Little Less Intimidating

During the Galacta’s Gift event in Marvel Rivals, a novel addition called the “Chrono Shield Card” has been unveiled. In simple terms, this item provides a protective barrier named the Chrono Shield that safeguards players from losing points when they suffer a defeat in the Competitive mode. The shield automatically activates after a specific number of losses (the exact number depends on the player’s rank). When a player’s Chrono Shield is fully charged, it prevents them from losing the usual amount of points when they lose a Competitive match, thereby shielding them from potential demotion in rank.

Using the Chrono Shield Card, players can get a Chrono Shield even when it hasn’t been fully charged following a defeat. Since there will be eight Chrono Shield Cards distributed in an event, players can utilize these cards to save themselves from losing crucial Competitive points up to eight times. However, the maximum number of Chrono Shield Cards a player can possess at once is 20. Since the Galacta’s Gift event awards only eight cards, it’s likely that these resources will become more frequently distributed during events due to their value.

As a gamer, I personally felt a bit irked when they added Chrono Shield Cards to Rivals. There were quite a few players who expressed their concerns that these cards could be exploited by top-tier gamers to maintain their high rank, which seemed unfair to many of us. However, the developers addressed this issue by explaining that the Chrono Shield Cards aren’t aimed at seasoned competitive players. Instead, they’re intended for newbies or those still in lower ranks who are just starting out with Competitive mode.

Hello Competitors, Here’s an important update: Chrono Shield Tokens earned in ranked matches and Chrono Shield Cards from events will not be available for purchase. These items are exclusively for Gold rank and below players. This adjustment aims to create a more relaxed environment for lower-ranked players when they enter the ranked mode, reducing some of their competitive pressure.

– about how Chrono Shield Tokens & Cards work

The creators of Marvel Rivals explain that Chrono Shield Cards can’t be bought and are limited to use only at ranks lower than Platinum (Gold being the highest they can be used). Essentially, these cards are usable in Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels, which are often referred to as “ELO Hell” by players. Many gamers find themselves stuck in these lower ranks not because of their lack of skill, but due to frequent teaming with individuals who struggle to collaborate, communicate effectively, or aren’t prepared for competitive play.

The Chrono Shield Cards are specifically crafted to address the challenging journey that lower-ranked players often face. These cards serve as a tool for players in Gold tier and below, helping them ascend to slightly higher competitive tiers where games are played with a focus on winning and advancing further. For many, the struggle to break free from ELO Purgatory can be disheartening, but these helpful resources can significantly boost their chances. Moreover, NetEase aims to provide newcomers to Competitive mode with a headstart, reducing the pressure they might feel to immediately excel and perform well in this mode. In essence, their goal is to instill more confidence in players when trying out Competitive play.
